SPRINGS, For a Gst Spyder!!!!!

I have been looking for a set of lowering springs for my 99 gst spyder. Lots of the sets have notes on the ads that say, " Doesn't fit Gst spyder" why don't they and where can i find some springs that do?
 
Springs for any 2g fwd or 2g awd will fit. Yes awd 2g awd springs will fit. Right now im on H&R sport springs for a fwd. So pick the springs you want.

just remember springs for an awd car are made stiffer. the awd cars are about 300 lbs heavier therefore if you put that spring on a fwd car, (which has a softer spring rate) will probably either keep the car at stock height or "lift the car". so basically get the fwd springs since your car is fwd.

all of the bracing on the Spyder to compensate for the convertible top brings its weight closer to that of an AWD

Thanks for the advice, I think ill just order some springs and if they don't fit ill ship thjem back, if any ones esle has any more help keep postin :thumb:
 
i had the same problem, everyone who makes springs for 2g's, it either is FWD(excluding spyder GST), AWD(excluding spyder GST) or Spyder gs(excluding GST).

i just got tiens for a gst. they should be in soon.
 
Any luck with finding those springs?

I bought a set of Eibach Sportlines and had to return them. The handout/important notice inside the box listed all the different DSM's they would fit and listed the Spyder as not being acceptable for these springs :cry:

Can any Spyder owners list the names of the lowering springs they have please?
 
You shouldnt run sportlines, they lower the car too much and youll have a real crappy ride.
Seriously you can use any fwd/awd springs. If you just want a moderate drop then just buy some eibach prokits.

Prokit or SportLines, I guess they'll both fit eh?

The car has ridiculous wheel gap now. Eibach doesn't make a spring for the Spyder.

Doesn't seem like anyone has any for the Spyder. I'm just worried that the back end will sag too much. It's only 180lbs? more than the hardtop GS-T, is it too much weight for the Eibach Sportlines? The help desk at Eibach wasn't much help.

so why dnt you just get some illuminas and make the back stiffer than the front like im doin? :thumb:

I put GS-T Tein T-techs on my Spyder. Just an example on what the difference will be, they're rated at .9" drop and the messured drop after a few weeks of settling was 1.2" Of course so was the front so the back didn't really sag any more than the front. But it was a little lower than advertised. That was expected though.
 
OMG!!!

Just installed the Eibachs Sportlines (which are meant for a normal FWD GS-T)

I went down waaaaayyyyy more than a 1.6 drop as advertised. Before I had the usual 2.5-3" wheel gap when the stock springs were on. Now I can barely fit one finger between the tire and fender lip :cry: The back rubs from time to time due to the lip over the back wheel arches.

And..... one of the back corners is lower than the rest. I was so careful to reinstall all the hardware correctly and am 99.999% sure I did it correctly. Maybe it just needs to settle?.....

Regardless the Sportlines are way too low for the Spyder GS-T. Looks good sitting there but it feels like a go cart now. I guess if they're to be left on then I'll have to "roll" the rear wheel arches?

I'll post some pics later.......
