Now I understand that the front struts from AWD and FWD are the same and the rear are different. Now my question is, what is the difference and is there any way that FWD will fit the rear of an AWD car? or is the difference too significant?

EDIT: Reason I am asking if because a friend of mine is selling his coilovers and struts off his GST, and i was wondering if there is any way i can get them to fit. If not, i am not going to buy them.

check for part numbers maybe you can find pics to if you are lucky. the brand to look for is KYB GR-2 since they were the oem struts those part numbers in the rear strut may or may not match if they do match the springs should work. i changed my struts and underneath the mitsubishi stamp was KYB.

the easiest way is to look at the struts do they look the same when you compare them. look under the car just look its not rocket surgery heck even use a tape measure.
i don't have fwd to compare to for you other wise i would take the 1 min it takes to look under the car and see.
