if this is something that has been beat to death,i'm sorry.i tried a search, but could not find exactly what i was looking for.

i have a 97 gst,and in theory,i believe that a lsd would help with traction in the snow, but before i drop the money for one,i would like to hear any experiences you guys may have on this subject, because, many of my theorys are wrong, and if this is the case,i would like to find out now,and not when i'm sideways in a ditch.

thanks.

LOL, huge misconception is why people end up in a ditch. LSD just will allow both wheels to spin when it "locks" up. But that is only when your accelerating. So in the snow, it will to a certain extent increase traction in accelerating but once your moving the lsd isnt going to help you maintain control through a turn in the snow or when you hit the brakes. Why do you think all these wrx guys this winter have all crashed their cars. They went fast on these snowy roads and released OOOOPS it doesnt matter wether I have awd. I may be able to accelerate faster but when I hit those brakes, the tires arent gonna be getting any more traction than ur mother's rwd station wagon. LOL unless you turn it sidways and slam on the gas and hope OR for people with experience, use this technique using throttle to gain traction.

so it would help with traction in the snow? I always seem to get stuck in parking lots after it's snows because I'm sitting there with one wheel spinning. I know that once you're moving it's not going to make a difference.

so,if i'm going up a hill, and the wheel starts to slip, would it cause the other to spin for traction as well?

Well, when your going up hill, you will have both wheels spinning. Keep in mind that it is still a limited slip. WIth enough power, you can have one wheel with traction and one wheel slip. The fun begins when you get a locker :) The name says it all.

ok,now that sounds more like what i'm looking for.

thanks guys for your help
