Do any of the FWD guys use staging brakes?

I was thinking about using one on the front wheels so I could pre-load the trans more, but then that wouldn't pre-load the tyres (sorry tires)

I would be interested to hear your thoughts.

Were using Autronic ECU at the moment, got the 60' down to 1.60 on 9" rims, I just cant hold the car on the handbrake (e-brake) but I need check if Im dragging the wheels on the start or they are turning....

Try doing a burnout in 3rd gear, thats what I used to do with the 5spd and worked great.

I am actually getting one made from Brian @ Terhune race works. I should have it in a few weeks. So won't be able to have any info till I get it and install it.
You do know you can pick up the phone and buy one right off the shelf, right? Why are they opting to piece one together instead?

Ya I know but Brian is hooking me up with one for sending him business. :) and I've been really happy with his services and advise throughout the years, so I would love to have more of his creations in my car. Planning to get a lot more from him for my gvr4 soon.

Not to get too far off topic (I had asked this question in another thread but got no answer), but do you just start off in third gear, give it a bunch of gas, and go? Also, have you found 2nd gear to not be adequate?

The burntouts in 2nds seemed to not get the tires hot enough fast enough. 3rd, in neutral build boost then slowly let the clutch out. Its what worked for me.

Couldn't get enough wheelspeed in 2nd?

I'm curious about this too.

I'm not a big drag racer, so the first time I used slicks I was doing 1st gear burnouts and bouncing off the rev limiter. I had read someone on here recommend 2nd gear burnouts. So I'm just trying to figure out what the best way to do this is since I'm a noob to this :)

Thanks for the info. I'll try 2nd and 3rd next time I go to the track. I'll probably have to see if anti-lag will help me get some boost built up or if I can do it with just the launch control.

I've been doing 2nd gear burnouts and building alittle boost off the 2-step then just popin the clutch into the burnout. It really helped that I tightend the ebrake alittle, I don't have to pull the handle up so hard and the brake catches tighter holding me in the burnout longer. So I look forward to seeing what Brian is going to send me. I to see how it can help.

I currently do 2nd gear burnouts, not tried 3rd gear yet.

I also was leaving the line at 10-15psi @6800rpm (anti-lag) avg 4-5.5psi in the tires. I will load a vid up of some burnouts

Wow, that's crazy low tire pressure. I don't think we ever ran below 10-12 PSI back when we were running FWD's.

yeah I think MT recommend min 12, most FWD's in the UK run 6-7.5 but every ones tyre pressure gauge us different and can differ by as much as 1psi even the same make and model
