Well, took it to the track for the "street car shootout" and was humbled when the best I could muster was a 14.61 at 104 WTF it was ether up in smoke or bog... On the other had I had a blast and made it to the third round in bracket racing. Hope times will get better when I go from 215's to 245's. open dif+fwd+215's=highway queen.

I have a tdo6-20g at 20 pounds. With a poor tune, meaning I tuned it. LOL

Mmmm... 2gB Talon. Tell the guy with the Talon to fix his door molding. All the pics looked good. Get some sticky tires, practice your launch and you'll knock a lot of time off that ET.

That's almost exactly what I ran the first time I took my FWD to the track. Lots of wheelspin. My 60-fts were embarassing.

It's crazy to think that an AWD car trapping 104 will be a full second quicker.

Well that makes me feel a little better, it was my first time at the track. I cant wait to make some changes and try again. My frist pass was a 16.8 with a huge amount of tire smoke through 2nd till I bogged hard in third :coy: I think that make me a little gun shy about a high RPM launch, so I was leaving around 3k... What do most FWD's leave at?

I remember that if I bogged the launch, I did better than if I left at a higher RPM with boost. I was trying to launch in the 5000-5500 RPM range, and that would just blow the tires clean off. Everything was eating me off the line, but I caught most of them in the back half of the track.

My first time to the track in my fwd i was launching at 4350ish but also my first time. I spun (but went forward) through third on a t28, exhaust, fmic, and injen air intake and had 14.1 as my time.
Suggestions that were given to me as do:
Suspension(coil overs)
LSD
Drag tires for the track( I run a 225/50/16 daily)<--did

Next time I will try a 3500-4000 launch, and try and slip the clutch more. I am on stock trans, ACT2100, 215-40's.... My 60 foot was 2.603.

Thanks for all the tips!

Well at least you're making me feel better about my FWD, stock 14b @ 14 psi, stock injectors, no tuner, full interior, street 215's, 14.3 @ 101 pass.

I launch at 3,500. Try lowering your tire pressure a few lbs and slip the clutch a little. That's what I'll be trying on Sunday, hoping to squeeze into the 13's.

Also is your head stock? If so where are you shifting? Most people try to shift too high and actually lose power.

Pictures look great! Don't give up, like anything it takes practice. Good luck!

I am on a stock head and shift around 6500. Hard to come out of the hole in the boost with the 20g... I think some 272's will wake her up.:hmm: What do you shift at?

I'm on a stock head as well and I shift at the same, 6500. A lot of people try to go all the way to the red on a stock head and that is where you lose power. Glad to see that you are not doing that.

Is your 20g a TD05 or TD06? I'm planning on running a TD06 20g next year (along with v3 lite and 850's). The TD06 spools slower you have less tire spin and my plan is to do the head at the same time so I can rev longer to make the most out of it.

I think some 272's will help you a lot!

Are you still on the side mount?

I am on a td06-20g with a front mount. I also know I am leaving some HP on the table with my super rich tune. Stock block with 150k on it.

Well your setup sounds great for FWD. Just throw in some cams and probably some springs and you should be set. Just need seat time to get your launch ironed out. My best FWD 60' on street tires was 2.2. My 14.3 second run was either a 2.3 or 2.4.

What are you using to tune? Do you have a wideband? If so what's your AFR at WOT?

Great pictures! You car looks super, super clean!

I have a wideband, safc, FIC 660's, wally 255 and my afr's go 10.0 at WOT, when I run 1 gallon e-85 with 3 gallons 100 octane it will run 10.8 and feels awesome. I am going to get a real tune soon. I only drive it a couple days a month. I DD a 4g GT.

I used an RRE map for a 16g with 650's and just leaned out a little more. It at -29% 3k rpm plus.

Wow. Your car looks really clean. I like the hood too. I'd get a timing belt cover for it though. I'd hate to see a rock make it's way in there and ruin a nice car.

Thanks guys, I wish I could find a SAFC map for a 2.0 with 20g and 650's. Any link to this info would be super win! :hellyeah: I am off right now but think I am close just a little to rich...

You could run a SAFC for 1000cc injectors and E85 though. Plus more boost and it will definitely help with a stock motor. Running a FWD is hard to get the hang of. Lots of throttle control.

You should work on that tune. Your wideband probably just doesn't read any richer than 10:1, but that doesn't mean you aren't running richer than 10:1.

I was doing the same thing as you, and discovered all that exess fuel was causing knock. Now that I'm seeing 10.7:1 AFR's (pump gas) I'm running over a second faster, and not getting knock.

I got a best of a 13.16@ 108 in my 92 laser fwd, 6 years ago! The only mods were, sbr g50, 190 fuel pump, 550cc injectors, a cheap ebay fmic, and a safc2.. running 20psi, with shitty street tires! I had a 2.058 60ft on that pass.
I went to the track 20 more times after that night, and could never get better then a 13.5, so I gave up and bought a AWD at the end of that season.
The next season went to the track with the awd (same mods as the fwd) and first day at the track, ran a 12.8@ 105mph, and now 5years later, almost in the 9s!!! My god time flies by!!
