I have come across a jdm 2.0 head. It has a different oil distribution block. What is up with this?

you got more information on the head that you got? what model. 6 or 7 bolt etc. maybe a picture of the head with the valve train etc. those also have gaskets dont assemble without

It does not matter if it is a 6 or 7 bolt. It is a standard head, nothing different other than the block. Looks to have an internal pressure spring.
Gaskets? I did not ask about any gaskets.

It is a pressure relief valve so that you don't experience issues with your lifters and valve float at higher rpms. With out it there is a good chance that you will have "pump up" issues with your lifters and that will cause them to keep your valves open.

Ermmm... I am not confused about what the valve body does...

I'm wondering why that one has that large part w/ the bolt on it protruding from the bottom. The one on my heads are more of just a "lid" with holes in it to distribute the oil.

Bonus: who knows where the oil to the head comes from?

and you dont need you to act like a moderator cause your arnt one
I am, and I agree with David's sentiment about the BS cluttering up what could be an informational thread. The next posts that don't directly address the question will be deleted, the users will be warned, and you'll have a mod following you around for a while.

I have been running the same valve on all my dsm's for years now. I have noticed the motors are less prone to lifter tick at idle. Other than mine, i haven't seen to many of these valves around. I do know they come on certain jdm 6 bolt heads.

For the sake of uneducated readers of this thread can we stop referring to heads as 6 and 7 bolt. There have already been a few other posts taking on this "lingo." A head is either 1g in design with its noticably larger head bolts, CAS, and larger intake ports or a 2g with smaller head bolts absence of the CAS or presence of the "semi oval" aluminum plug in its position, and smaller intake ports.

Simply saying a head is a 6bolt doesnt distinguish it from the 1g design found in the 1g with a 7bolt block mated to the SAME head from 92.5-94.

To answer the OP's question +1 Ive read in other forums the JDM valve is believe to better regulate oil psi to the head and reduce valve train noise i.e lifter tick. IMO if your using the JDM head use the JDM valve
