2g pistons in 6-bolt, which rings?

I recently got my rings for my engine rebuild and they don't fit the 2g pistons. They say they are standard bore one's. I honed the block and that's it. I was wondering which set of rings I use. Do I use the 1g rings since it's a 1g block and the bore is smaller than a 2g or do I use 2g piston rings? Just checking because I think these are misboxed. Thanks.

you use the rings made for the pistons.1g=1g,2g=2g.the cylinder bore isnt smaller in a 1g engine,the wrist pin in the piston is.

1g is 85mm bore. 2g is 87.5mm bore.

Wrong. They are both 85mm. Remember, they are both 2.0l, same stroke so how could the bore size be different? The 4g64 has a bore size of 86.5mm. If yours is 87.5mm, you either have a 4g63 that is 2.5 mm over(unlikely) or a 4g64 that is 1mm over.

With the 2g pistons, you use 2g rings regarless of which gen block.

Clevite kept sending me the wrong one's. 3 time's in a row they misboxed them and there book they sent us isn't right. Anyone have a clevite number for me so I can double check it.

Did you tell them that the pistons are overbore pistons? Doesn't matter what gen pistons you're using, if you don't tell them that, they're going to keep sending you standard bore rings.

They aren't. They are stock bore and stock 2g pistons. They were sending me rigs for a SOHC 2.4L .040 over. Our clevite book at work has some serious problems.

Standard bore on the 4G63 block is 85mm. You need a ring set for a standard bore 7-bolt. If you can't figure out the correct M77 part number, try Federal Mogul. Their part number is E-647KC.
