I have a second generation 98 model eclipse gs-t conversion in my '95 model Hyundai Sonata. Being weary of crankwalk, I have been reading another major thread here about the 4G64 2.4 sonata transplant. However, I still have the original 4G63 based sonata motor in very good condition sitting here at home and would like to know if i could transplant that.

If/when i get crankwalk on this 2nd gen motor, am i able to swap out the 2G bottem end for the Sonata 6 bolt bottom end, and retain the 2G Head? has anyone done this swap before?

Would i be able to use aftermarket rods and pistons meant for the 1G 4G63T or 4 door galant 4g63t vr4 turbo in this application?

I'm using the 2nd generation GS-T fwd turbo gearbox. am I right in saying i'd need a 6 bolt flywheel (perhaps use the one from the sonata one?) for it to work with my sonata bottom end?

Any help appreciated. I've had the swap for 3 years, and did not know about the crankwalk problems associated with the 2G before swapping it in. I haven't had any problems with crankwalk to date, but would like to know about this, just in case.

not sure if this answers your question, but the 98 GS-T engine is a 7-bolt. 7 and 6-bolt bottom ends cannot be swapped. or are you talking about using the 6-bolt block with the 2G head?

if u have a 98 engine, CW is LESS likely to happen. thats all i know on the topic
