I need opinions on the pace setter cat back system for a 2g turbo eclipse. I was wondering if anyone has tried it and if it is worth 180 beans? I will also be useing it with a high flow cat. thanks

I got one back in the day for 140.

The piping is a nice 2.5 inch but:

The resonator is all louvered core and the muffler is all louvered core basically restricting it as much as a stock exhaust.

but for the low price do you think it is worth replacing the noise less rusted stocker? pair with an obx high flow cat?

Well you would need to remove the resonator and weld in a straight pipe, then remove the muffler and weld in a straight-thru muffler.

how did it sound? did you feel any gains? with it from the store...and is it worth it?

Well:

180 for the cat-back.
20 for a peice of straight pipe
80-100 for a new muffler.

280-300 for a real exhaust when you can get a 3-inch madrel bent cat-back from www.rnrracing.com for 300-350

yeah I know there are better systems out there but for just over 200 beans I can get a better flowing cat and exhaust without the muffler. The only reason I am considering is cause I am on a budget. did you get any gains and what about the sound?

Once I got the resonator out and put a real mufller on it sounded very good.

Don't know since I didn't do a dyno test before and after. But the throttle response was better and the turbo was spooling faster.

I have the Pacesetter cat-back on my GS-T. It's decent for the price, aluminized tubing but the welds are rusty already (had it for about a year). Gains are minimal, but it's not too loud (as one might expect) which is okay with me because I'm tired of loud exhausts and I'm not looking for all-out performance anyway. I give it another 2 years or so before I buy another one; that is if I still have the car in 2 years.....

have you run your car with the exhaust? and is it worth it ?
thanks for your input

I am brought this one back to get more replies. 180 beans for a pace setter exhaust that will be paired with a hi flow cat. has anyone had any experience with this system, and is it worth the money, cause I am on a college students budget. thanks again.

yeah, it's been on the car for about a year now. definitely an improvement over stock performance wise, but the quality isn't the best as one might expect. at least the tubing is aluminized.

i'm running a 2.5" stainless steel downpipe (actually cost a little bit more than the catback:D ), catco cat, and then the pacesetter catback.
