well are they!? someone sold me a 88-99 eclipse turbo fwd/awd clutch kit (the act 2100) are all of these the same!? i thought they were until i looked at ACT's site and they had different products for the 6 bolt and 7 bolt. please lemme know :dsm:

The pressure plate and disc will fit a 1G or 2G six or seven bolt motor. So the answer is yes it will fit. Flywheels are what differ between AWD and FWD and of course six and seven bolt flywheels. The clutch kit will work with any configuration.

The clutch will fit all the 4g63's I believe, the flywheel however will not since its a 7 bolt flywheel on a 6 bolt transmission.

Wrong. The flywheels is what makes the difference between a 6 bolt/7bolt and AWD/FWD. There are 4 combinations there.

The clutches and pressure plates are the same for the 6 and 7 bolt but differ from AWD to FWD.

All turbo DSM clutches are the same, AWD or FWD doesn't matter at all. Like you said the only differences are the flywheels (6 bolt/7 bolt AWD/FWD)

The disc and pressure plate(and everything that comes in a clutch kit) are the same for all 4g63t's no matter FWD, AWD, 6 bolt, or 7 bolt. The differences are in the flywheels:

-6 bolt flywheels have 6 bolts connecting it to the crankshaft, and the 7 bolts of course have 7.

-AWD flywheels have a smaller diameter ring gear than FWD's. You'd find out as soon as you tried to start the car. On an AWD the starter would hit the FWD flywheel, and on a FWD the starter would just spin, unable to catch the teeth.

EDIT: got sidetracked in the middle of the post... a little late :p

They are correct. For some reason I was thinking the AWD pressure plates had more clamping force, but now that I check they dont! Sorry for the confusion.

More info is better than less!

The FWD/AWD flywheel will depend on the transmission since that's what the starter mounts to(awd starter is closer to the center of the crank than the fwd, I believe the starters themselves are the same though), and the number of bolts will depend on the engine (6bolt/7bolt).

So, if you're putting a 6 bolt in your fwd 2g, you'll need a 6bolt fwd FW.

Don't forget to use the "spacer plate" , the sheet metal plate that get's sandwiched between the block and tranny, from your 7-bolt. If you don't the starter won't line up properly. Don't ask me how I know this. :coy:

EDIT: Maybe this is the difference from AWD to FWD? The 6 bolt was from an AWD and went into a GS-T.

so if u have a 2g clutch from a 7 bolt it will fit on the 6 bolt motor .. and the flywheel is already on the motor correct .. and wht is the spacer plate

do the 1g's and the 2g's use the same clutch and flywheel? and is there a difference between the turbo and non turbo ones? im looking into buying a new clutch for my 90 tsi and dont want to accidentaly buy the wrong one LOL thanks
