Ok the GM MAF is def more trouble than it is good. I tune my car with dsmlink and gm maft and gm maf seem to do nothing but cause more problems. I mean my goal with my setup is like 450whp - 500whp and I think I can get awy with just using a 2g maf which would make life easer anyway with my fp intake which is setup for it my only problem is I have a knock off tial BOV I don't want to get rid of because one it will hold the amount of boost I want to run and it is built into my IC piping so replacing would be a big PITA. Is there anyway to still run the tial style bov(which vents o the atmosphere) without having the gm setup or EMS??

I have the same problem with my maf/dsmlink. You need to calibrate teh airflow tables in dsm link. The easiest way is to use a map sensor like the aem3 bar. You just have to line up the boostest with actual boost. You can also calibrate it with a WBO2. Once you have the airflow sliders calibrated you'll be fine.
It's alot easier to calibrate airflow sliders then to replace a BOV in my opinion.

Which do you think is more accurate just to pick up a wideband cause it would be good for tuning and not just calibrating or to pick up a 3 bar?

I think if you found somebody who really knows how to tune w/ the maft setup, you would be happy, but true is that yes you could reach the HP goals you want to w/ a 2g mas setup, but there is much more room for tunability w/ the GM MAF-T setup though. You ust have to find someone who really knows how to calibrate and tune w/ it, especially since you have dsmlink. I also here that the MAFT PRO works alot better on the 1g and galants, but takes some time to setup and tune, but has way more tunability.

Honestly, I would choose the WBo2 over the 3 bar sensor. You can tune alot easier and much cleaner than with just a 3 bar sensor. It's always good to have a WBO2 if you are tuning for higher than stock levels.
Where do you live, I can help you tune if necessary. Just send me some logs from DSMLink and I can review them for you.

I agree that having a WB is very helpful, but I dont think getting rid of the Gm MAFT setup is the best thing to dump and get a WB.... If you keep the MAFT setup and get a WB that prob will help you alot, if you don't want to go tune on a dyno. I think you would be happy w/ the addition of a Wb and not trading it in for the MAFt setup. But if thats the only way you can get it done then, you got to do what you got to do. :thumb:

To be honest I will use NLTS when I'm racing for real and any other time as long as the car doesn't bog and stall i don't care. I care more about consistent readings and not having to wory about calbrating just for my car to run like it should. Like right now it's a joke how bad the car runs.

Sounds like you're giving yourself alot of headache just to keep the BOV. Consider finding a BOV that will recirc and work like you want. The 2g MAS and DSMLink is simple and great working combo. Once you use two like you are, things start to mess up. I had DSMLink and MAFT and the car hated it. Once I put the 2g MAS in, it was night and day.

I had a hard time using my maft with link when I first started but now it is pretty easy. Since you have a 1g the prefered method for dialing in your maft is with a wb02. Just make sure you keep your boost down at the begining and dial in your readings to match your wb readings. Also most people dont't remember that when setting up your a/f est in link, if you are running stock fuel pressure on a 1g you will need to reduce the injectors. Example I am running 750's but since I am at stock fuel pressure my a/f est is set at 698cc injectors.

I understand that it is possible and maybe easy for some to get their cars to run good with the gm setup but I am more like wazzleby. This car just hates it. It's running horrible. I am focused on how to make my bov maf setup work without a lot of problems with the least ammount of remodding.

Now did you make sure that when you initially set it up w/ the dsmlink that you zeroed out the MAF-T settings and then tuned w/ dsmlink, b/c I know that since dsmlink v1. & 2 don't have a "GM MAF-T" option, that you need to do that when you tune it w/ dsmlink? :thumb:

There is no reason to have a outdated dsmlink version it's just a matter of downloading software. ANyway I did zzero it out then tune but it still ran like crap it doesn't matter I traded the gm setup already for a lm1 setup today. I'm just gonna go evoIII maf
