I jus got a die grinder and some stones and the stones are taking forever. I've been told I can use a diamond carbide bit for porting my turbo, exhaust manifold and o2 housingm but then I was also told i should never use a carbide bit.
VFaq.com says use a carbide bit, what should I got with?

will a diamond carbide or a carbide bit do any harm when porting (if done correctly)
I was told that the diamond bit will last longer than a regular bit...
(And where can I get a new 2h exhaust manifold from...)

Thanks

get the manifold from www.partznet.com & use the carbide bit (don't know about the diamond one). They work really well. Then use the stones to smooth out the roughness left by the carbide burr.

Carbide is sufficient for cast iron. Also get some machinist blueing for the port to port flanges. Clean all surfaces, coat with blueing, line up a new gasket and scribe the flange along the outline of the gasket opening. Grind to the outline, smooth with a stone and do a through wash and dry to remove ALL grinding residue. Take your time and don't let the carbide get too hot. When you use a common denominator (gasket) to determine maximum port sizeing it will ensure a good match and minimum turbulence at the interfaces.

i used the diamond drill bit and it worked really good it threw the cast iron like nothin then i used a gringing ball to smooth it out then a wire wheel to polish it cam out really good and it works
