(CRL) Cosmetic Rear Lip

Well this Thanksgiving I Got kinda bored with family was messing around the house and decided to make a Cosmetic rear lip for my car since no one makes them anymore and seeing all these threads about rear diffusers just got me all excited to come up with something. Something simple nothing crazy, I just wanted to add/change the look of the bumper without painting it of some sort. Its not functional as you can see (Cosmetic) but was very easy to make, what I did was I had an another back bumper laying around and decided to hack it up and cut out the bottom portion of the bumper with a dremal. Reshaped it to the indents and curves of the of the bumper, Sanded and Repainted it with duplicolors bumper coat paint and wraped the sides with door moldings that you can get at O'reilly's auto parts stores comes 5ft long cost about $11.99. I Attached the lip with 3M's double sided tape and 4 screws on the bottom spread out, took about 1hr 30mins to put together. An easy cheap mod.

I could make one but seeing that someone on the forum is already in the works of making them, I might as well just wait and buy their product. At least I'll know the product was tested and will most likely be functional.

Rather than hacking up a rear bumper to make that, you could've gotten the same outcome by just plastidipping the rear bumper in the same shape. It looks good, just not how I personally would've gone about it.

True, but I didn't want to paint it, it would look kinda tacky that way. Plus its easily removable and I can put it back whenever I want vs. peeling the plastidip off and re-taping everything again to paint it.

Plastidip doesn't require any sanding, just cleaning, so it's literally just peeling it off and it's back to how it was.

This got me thinking if it would look good to somehow adapt the "hedgehog" rear window fins from an Evo onto DSM's.

Wow! Looks clean! I would love to have done mine that way, but i just painted it..but good idea so now when you get tired of that look like I have you can just take it off. Good idea though.

A lot to of people have done it already, search for Vortex Generator.

Looks good, but I myself would have gone with plastidip so you can change the color whenever. I've plastidipped wheels before and never had an issue with it coming off.

Our rear bumpers are flimsy as it is. I could see this flying off at high speeds. I would of plasti dipped it like someone else suggested. I have plasti dipped the side of a car and it peeled right off with no issues. (was showing a friend how easy it was.)

With 4 screws I highly doubt it, Like I said I didn't want to paint it. I know plasti dipp peels right off but I didn't want to go that route because having to re-tape it and to re-spray it, just takes to long. I rather Just bolt the lip right up and call it a day. Keeping it Simple

I'm thinking the same thing, I really like it but don't want to cut the bumper up. I think I'm just goin to paint mine.
