hey guys whats the turning radius for a 1g supposed to be? Mine seems to be pretty huge compared to say, any other vehicle I've driven lately.

Its also making little thuds I can feel in the floorboard when I turn the wheel back/forth vigorously when in park, not sure if thats related or even an issue at all cause I tried it on a 2g at the dealer for the heck of it and it made the thuds also.

Recently I replaced the tierod ends cause one was broken, so I know those are ok.

hi... well Ive noticed my turning radius sucks.... my moms mazda tribute (an SUV) has a much better turning radius than my 95 talon TSI... Why is this? is there any way to improve the turning radius? Thanx for the info.
 
yea my eclipse also has crappy turning radius and also my friend with a 3g eclipse is even worse.
 
I don't think there's much you can do about it. Maybe get a vr-4 with four wheel steering or something if it bugs you that much (yeah, I know. it's even bigger). I don't let it bother me that much. DSMs are great cars :thumb:
 
I noticed the same thing on my car. U-turns in the Eagle are like Semi-Style. My moms corolla can do it on a two lane street for sillys sake.

ya ive noticed this too, and wat sucks more is that most of our dsm cars r so freakin low, u cant evne enter drive ways or something fo ra U turn. so u gota make that U turn in the middle of hte street, backin up n forth like 3 times
 
Iv'e owned a 1g and a 2g......and without a doubt my 1g AWD has a much smaller turning radius (even smaller than my 90 integra) and better turn in too.

Yes, most ships have a smaller turning radius. DSMs' are 38 feet. Many streets are 30 feet wide.

In consideration of the power the DSMs produce, they have stronger (the cheap, easy way, which means big and bulky) CV joints than most cars.

Whats up guys,
My talon has the worst turning radius. It drives me nuts because I can't make certain u turns and I can't even get out of my driveway. Do you guys experience this to? Is their any fix for this besides for a different rack n pinion.
 
I don't know of a fix with a new rack, but I figured that is the reason why the turning radius is so bad.
 
Turn the wheel to full lock and see how much room there is between the inside edge of the tire and the inner shield in the wheel well. If there is almost no room, then that's why the rack was designed to go no farther.

Yeah the 2005 Tacoma turns on a dime compared to the GSX. Even my GF's 2001 Impalla turns tighter. In fact I've driven a number of vehicles; trucks, SUV's, large cars and small cars. My car has the largest turning radius out of anything I've touched.
I always wondered if the FWD guy had it easier? I guess this wouldn't be any indication of that.
 
haha..its just as bad on a 1G. try to pull a U turn and you end up doing a 3 point turn.
 
I've driven A LOT of different cars including RV's, extended vans, moving trucks, etc. My 2G has the worst turning radius of any car I have driven. You're right Piper, I don't think FWD's are any better.
