Does anyone have a fried 98/99 ECU I could buy extra cheap?

I would love to do some experimenting to find which pins go to which ports on ECU, but since don't want to ruin my ECU I can't do that now.

The ECU board is all coated and I don't want to ruin the coating on working ECU just to test which wires go where.

Just in case you guys havn't check the ecuflash site in a while, they say that its now possible to reflash th evo 5/6 ecu and all 2g ecu's from 96-99'.

I'm going to download the new version and see if anyone has written a definition file yet.

It looks like we need a special connector to send the init voltage you were talking about madman

I would like to hear the results of an attempts as well, as I don't have the connectors right now in my car for flash plug, and I ran into issues with injector swapping.

Seems that I will have to add a wire for pin 79? on my car for flashing...

Also, 96-99?! They say only H8 on the front page.

Why don't you just read the rom that is on your car? After you read it you might want to head over to evolutionm.net and ask for help with a definitions file there, some of those guys enjoy a challenge and will work on other cars.

Well, the ROMs differ it seems, even between GSXes. So the definitions might be different as well.

Then the maps are easy to find, but the tough part is figuring out which one is which, and how to map axis with corresponding maps.

Then there is the tough part, that is, if someone wants to reuse the old ROMs, he must find out where the fuel cut occurs.

P.S.: Has anyone succeeded in re flashing the H8 on DSMs?

The ROMs have ID at offset 0x1FEFA, so far there have been EM2364 and EM2056 ROMs spotted.

same question has anyone been able to mod a rom and reflash to the ecu? got a 98 ecu on my 95 and I am very interested, in theory just need the open port 2.0 cable and make the 79 pin mod to reflash my ecu right?

Noone seems to have OpenPort 2.0 so far it seems.

I could get the cable, but unfortunately I don't have a flash plug in my car and I have pretty much no free time right now. :(

Also I have issues with injector firing order when I use 98/99 ECU in my car, so while I haven't found the right order in which I have to swap injector pins, I'm running with the old ECU.

How is your car running? Have you swapped any of the pins at the ECU, or anything else to compensate for the 2Ga CAS?

I´m about to swap the injector wires on my 95 car with 98 will let you know what I did.

NEW EcuFLash came out. Version 1.42 and in the release notes it says

"support for flashing H8/539FA processor (e.g. Evo 6.5) via new H8539FA memory model"

Maybe this will help with flashing the eclipse ECUs

For those who have only subscribed to this thread - yes you can. Further info including definitions and ROM images here -> http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/tun...first-flashed-dsm-ecu-98-99-flashing-faq.html

Does this evoscan program work on 95 eclipse? Would it be better then pocketlogger?

From my experience 97/97/99 year cars are amazingly fast and easy to log, on everything else it's a gambling. I couldn't log many of the older model year cars or read DTCs from them.

Ok so here is my question about evoscan. can i use it to log my 95 tsi ? or no? i havent found a definate answer yet. thanks

I haven't been able to get mine to connect using a OP 1.3 cable.

In newer versions of EvoScan MUToverOBD is broken for the 1.3 and 2.0 cables.

Might want to try an older version. I contacted LimitLess a while ago about this, but don't know if it has been fixed yet.

If it is still broken, someone should contact them so it gets fixed.

Actually, from my limited testing 2.6 seems to log all cars just fine, the 2.5 didn't logged 95's at all.

The OBD on non Mitsu cars doesn't seem to work though, but maybe because I got the cable without pin 9.

yes, you can use evoscan to log 1995 ecus.
its way slower than on 98 ecus but work fine.

Ok Thank you very much for the reply. i kno it is only $25 but i didnt want to watse the money on the cable and it not work. alo would i get the 1.3 cable ? there site is kinda confusing me with the cables and what one to download. as i have obd2 and not obd1. wich i love as i can scan my car with my scanner:hellyeah:. so thank you. :thumb::thumb::thumb:

o and i herd they sell the cables on ebay for like $20. but i cant find them. and i would like to find one that is usb and not the seriel port. anyone know where to find them? thanks

Follow the link I mentioned here http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/tun...-evoscan-ecuflash-tuning-5.html#post151911313

There is a discussion about 98/99 ECUs that are flashable. I would personally go for OP 2.0 so that if you upgrade the ECU you can do some serious tuning.

But OP 2.0 doesn't allow AIC/AYC/ABS logging IIRC. So if you have an Evo, maybe OpenPort 1.3 is better. I don't know if it's software or hardware limitation.

Either way, read all the info Ceddy has posted, there is a lot to learn. Then you'll be able to decide.

P.S.: Maybe someone wants to upgrade his OP 1.3 to OP 2.0 and can sell you his old one for cheap.

hey maybe someone could help me out.. im a total newb to the evoscan, just found out about it like an hour ago, and it seems like a good logger. i have a 95 gsx, what would i all need to be able to log with it? i want to be able to read knock as well for tuning purposes with my afc neo. if anyone has advice its much apreciated

Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this problem.

I have an AEM WB that I wired using the blue data wire from the harness into PIN 2 of a Serial to USB connector and I grounded pin 5 as per the manual.

Once I installed the drivers for the cable and plugged it into the laptop it seems to recognize it fine. I select AEM Wideband from the EVOSCAN 2.6 Wideband menu, I also select the correct COM Port(3 for me). I tick it off in the Items to Data Log section. I also set the COM Port settings according to AEM's recommendations.

Here is the dilemma:

Right after I start the data logger evoscan correctly shows the Wideband reading but after about 5 seconds it freezes at whatever value it was at at the time. I did a quick log to check if maybe it just was not displaying properly, but no every value in the log file was the same.

Choose another operating system rather than Vista OR pick up a different version of evoscan. The issue is actually a problem with the usb handling in windows/evoscan and has been fixed but a new stable version hasn't been released yet so you'll need to check for a beta version over on evolutionm.net I have had good luck with 2.6beta3 but versions after that have some sort of bug with maptracing. So far 2.6beta3 has been very happy with everything that I do but you wont be able to find a direct download link for it from Hamish. Unfortunately you'll need to find someone that is hosting the file or consider going back to v2.5 (IIRC that works fine).
