Depends on the budget for your build and what your goals are... For most the former will suffice. Unless you plan on serious big power and want a no compromises mind set then get the 4.2. Both get the job done, the 4.9 just utilizes better technology. Is it worth it to upgrade from a 4.2 to a 4.9 with the mtxl? Opinions and whys appreciated
I read somewhere they were less prone to fouling.. is this true?
Im burning though 4.2 sensors monthly. Innovate said the oil from valves is probably the cause. If i awitch to 4.9 that should be resolved correct?Yes it's true. The new internal design does not utilize reference air but current rather. The air cell on the 4.2 is its biggest failure point according to bosch. If your looking for long-term reliability the 4.9 is by far better. Put it this way, if your 4.2 is fine and functions proerly then leave it alone. If not then get the 4.9 as it is a better unit overall.

They started going bad after e85 switch but afts are 14ish idle and 12 at wot.
Innovate were the ones that told me valves when i asked for an rma
