Depends on the budget for your build and what your goals are... For most the former will suffice. Unless you plan on serious big power and want a no compromises mind set then get the 4.2. Both get the job done, the 4.9 just utilizes better technology.

Yes it's true. The new internal design does not utilize reference air but current rather. The air cell on the 4.2 is its biggest failure point according to bosch. If your looking for long-term reliability the 4.9 is by far better. Put it this way, if your 4.2 is fine and functions proerly then leave it alone. If not then get the 4.9 as it is a better unit overall.

No I don't believe it will resolve the issue. Fix the burning oil and that will fix the issue. The new sensor may last longer but the oil will eventually foul it as well.

Yes. Id do it I were you. If you still have issues something else is wrong. The 4.9 was designed for heavy stress in automotive application. Bosch says 700° celsius is its optimum operating temp for accuracy which is about perfect for our cars.

I didnt think badly.. it smokes at idle then clears up when driving Half quart every 2 weeks.

They started going bad after e85 switch but afts are 14ish idle and 12 at wot.

Innovate were the ones that told me valves when i asked for an rma

1200 so half quart every 600 or so

Good oil... Thats not SUPER bad oil consumption, but its not normal either. This is definitely shortening the life of your sensor. I would start looking into a rebuild.

Yea.. rings seam fine for now but valve seals are shot

Most likely it's the valve stem seals. Change them and you should be good. On the oil switch to 10w-30. That's the weight the engine was engineered to run. Thinner than that and you could be losing some past the oil ring.

Our cars like 20/40, 20/50 (what I use) that's for sure. Have always run it even when In Chicago. Only In the winter would I switch to 10/30. Check this out from oem manual.

Dang good info... for 600hp i use 50 but figured too thick for my 300hp daily
