I have looked at several MBC and I cannot decide which one to get. Was wondering what everyone out there has.

In my opinion, spending over $20.00 for a manual boost controller is ludicrous. For very little money you can make your own ball and spring type controller, or buy a cheap one off of ebay such as these:

Some trimming of the spring may be required to get the correct range of boost with the knob.
Try searching for "manual boost controller" on ebay. You will find many cheap boost controllers that work just as good as the $75.00 ones. I use a cheap one I bought for $10.00 on ebay, and it works perfectly. You will probably have to buy a little bit of vacuum tubing from somewhere but thats cheap.

I'm just not one of those cheap dsmers that go to home depot for parts. Maybe thats why i spent more then 10 bucks on a boost controller

I would never settle for crappy mods or parts, but a boost controller is a boost controller. A simple air valve that takes in pressure from one side and limits pressure through the other side. The ball and spring type boost controller is a popular design and is probably what your using in your car. Its a ball bearing, a spring, an inlet, an outlet, and a threaded knob. Its kind of hard to make a "bad" boost controller in my opinion. But hey, if you like throwing away money then go for it. :thumb:

I have a Joe P. and it works just fine for me, haven't had any probs. to date with it and besides the fact that i only paid 45 bucks for it so for the dsm'er on a budget it's a great choice :D

I have ran the cheap ebay controllers, i made about 10 different designs myslef, and I have used the hallman. There is absolutely no comparison. The cheap ebay valves and most of the homemade valves are bleeder type valves. So instead of blocking the boost to a set point then letting it bypass to the wastegate, it bleeds it to atmosphere. You get slower spoolup, boost creeping/spiking problems, boost falls off at higher rpms in some cases. Also good luck trying to find a ball and spring setup to seal properly with the home depot stuff. It's just not worth it. I used to be all over those homemade valves until I tried a hallman. I wont ever use a homemade bleeder again.
