Ok 1G guys, I have done some searching and came up with "some" results. But I wanna know what setup you have ben using, and are happy with so far. I do not want to turn this into a debate ect. But post what ya like and dislike. And vote for what you are using :thumb:

I have used all of the following:

1g MAF + SAFC: Works fine, but the quality of the air metering once you start hacking the MAF is simply not great. For a drag car this method is fine, but for a daily driver that sees a lot of change in throttle position and load, I found that it left a lot to be desired.

V 1.37 MAFT + SAFC: I switched from the above setup to this, and what a difference. You will notice a slight increase in transient boost response (less "lag"), which makes the car feel a little bit quicker. The hotwire MAF is simply very good, and you notice it all the time. There is not much of a change (if any) in peak power, but power under the curve and driveability are fantastic.

V2.00 MAFT (no SAFC): When the newer version of the MAFT was released, I initially tried to tune using it and the SAFC. However, when I realized I wasn't really doing anything with the SAFC I couldn't do with the MAFT, the SAFC was sold. I did NOT notice any difference in tunability, or power.

V2.00 MAFT + Custom EPROM: This is what I am using now, poor man's DSMLink. By modifying my own timing maps, fuel maps, etc, I am able to have a level of control almost the same as a full standalone, which leaves my car running better than it ever did with a piggyback. It feels better at all throttle positions, and makes more overall power.

 hmmm well I have a laft and am ordering a chip from DSMchips, any advice?

BTW on the vote, I did not mean to put AFC and eprom. I meant MAFT and eprom

and what is the difference from the 1.3 and the 2.0 maft. I have the 1.3

2.0 makes it so the MAFT basically has the tunability of a SAFC (rpm based full throttle adjustments). You should be able to search for it...

Can't you just change the poll?

My advice is spend 30 dollars to upgrade to 2.0+, or just leave it how it is.

woah!, you mean I can send this in and upgrade? OMG LOl sweeet!

and it will bnot let me edit the poll unless I am missing something

well, the reason i want to have a MAFT and a SAFC is so i dont have to go by throttle position; i can use a map sensor with the safc. that along with the MAFT and i will have the benifits of less air restrictions and i can also vent into the atmosphere for that super cool ricer sound. i will also be using a keydiver chip so will this be overkill? i'd also like the safc for the tunability from the drivers seat. what do you think kpt4321?

good thinkin :thumb:

i already have this stuff in my posession so thats why i'm going this route. we'll see how it works on my car when i get her up and running.

The MAFT doesn't use throttle position, it uses airflow and engine speed (ending up with an airflow per rev indication) which is a better reference of load than TPS or MAP.

MAFT 2.0x + DSMLink in a 1g conversion.

I got the MAFT to overcome 2g mas airflow limitations, but I think the car has also has better driveability with the MAFT (blow-through) than with the 2g sensor.

I'm very very pleased. The engine setup is about as modified as can be, but drives like stock if not better.

maybe i'll try just the two then and see what happens. thanks for the input.
