Montreal,
Hey,

I just got my clutch installed and whenever I press in the clutch all the way, its makes a light grinding noise. I tried adjusting the clutch pedal and it still makes the noise.

Any suggestions?

If it sounds like the noise is coming from the pedal area, it is the spring that gets bad over time. You can spray it with WD40 or some other lubricant and see what happens. Mine had a weak grinding sound that went away after about 3 coats of WD40.

i highly doubt the tob since it was most likely replaced with the clutch. I would first wd-40 the clutch petal spring alot and work the petal and then repeat 3 to 4 more times. If that doesn't do it install a new tob if you can do it yourself

Throw out bearing was replaced when I got the clutch done about 4days ago. The noise is coming from the clutch/flywheel area. Its as if the fingers of the pressure plate are touching the disk. I tried adjusting the pedal but it still didnt work :(

wherever you got it replaced , you should have warranty , either they did something bad or parts are bad. Just go back there and tell them whats wrong im sure they will understand. But if you worked as your own backyard mechanic like most of us , you have a problem :) I suggest taking it off and redoing it , sounds bad but i think its your only way out. ;)

The good news is, it's fixable :)
The bad news is, you will have to drop the trans again if it's coming from the bellhousing :(

Good luck with it.

Mine does the same thing. Clutch is pushed in all the way, and I hear this very light grinding noise coming from the trans area. Clutch, flywheel, and tranny all have less than 2k on them though. ACT 2600, Fidanza flywheel, Shep stage 2 tranny. I'll check my TOB though. Seems to shift just fine though, no slippage or anything.

Sorry to bump an old thread but this is the exact problem im having and wanted some additional input on what to do or maybe the OP can chime in and update us with the answer... Strange thing with mine is that if i bleed the clutch it will temporary solve the problem and im able to drive it about 30 minutes no issues at all, it only "scratches" when the clutch is fully pressed ALL the way down, if i only press it about 3/4's of the way down it will go into gear just fine and doesnt grind/scratch nothing... so does this sound like the pedal needs proper adjusting..?

i had the same problem after installing my 2900. I had to adjust my clutch to release lower, it was like it was over-extending or something. Now it works just fine! It was releasing wayyy too high at first. Don't know if it will work for you guys but that worked for me!

Sounds like you are over extending the pressure plate into the clutch hub a little bit. I have seen this before on a car with a misadjusted master cylinder and an extended clutch rod. If you have a extended rod replace it with the correct one and follow the instructions from jack's transmissions on adjusting your master.

Make sure u torque down the pressure plate bolts down well or else the plate will grind away at the inside of the tranny housing.

You guys are smart, hit it on the nail... Thats exactly what the problem was and i did use jacks transmission video to "adjust it properly" and voila, worked perfect...!! :thumb:

Appreciate the help fellas..!

For future onlookers, make sure you adjust your clutch properly according to jacks video.. Make sure you understand what he's doing and how to do it properly, dont just go turning the rod and hope for the best... I adjusted the clutch pedal by myself, its a pain, but easy to do....
