Skunk2 Coilovers ; what struts/shocks to get?

I am having a hard time finding an AFFORDABLE set of front struts to replace my blown out gr-2's on my 2g. I have skunk 2 coilovers.

I really wanted the HP blues, but i have read you need to CUT the perches on them to get the coilovers onto them!?

Is tehre a disadvantage to cutting the perches? Will it harm anything?

If it is not wise to do, what struts are suggested for use with these coilovers?

Im not dumped, and i dont auto-x, im looking for a nice ride and a great price.

I really do not want to sell all my coilovers, and im only doing the front struts.

Any input/help is appreciated.

Ive read and searched and found that Koni's are the ultimate, and that HP blues suck over time. What about AGX's?

I cannot recommend AGX's to any 2G owner. I had two sets, first set had a rear one blow. Lasted basically two years. The most recent set had a front AND a rear blow. Again, they lasted about two years.
