I am just about to buy a pair of oem side skirts and I have a 1999 Rs Eclipse and I wanted to know what would kind of drilling would I have to do to get it on.

Hey, I just did this conversion not too long ago... Sorry for no pics of the actual install... Well, if you would like to drill, then you may... I dont remember how big the holes should be, but you should be able to figure it out by looking at the clips (what I did)... And I take no responsibility if you mess up! Just take your time and you'll be ok!

If you are planning on drilling, then...

The end cap (front piece) has three drilling points, two on the fender area (clips) and one underneath the car (screw)... drill the hole in the fender and push the clip into the hole, then drill a self-threading screw into the hole under the car (you'll see it), then you un-screw one of the screws inside the wheel well and re-screw it back on with the end cap attached... I would recommend screwing the end cap on first to get a good placement... Finished, on to the actual skrt! :thumb:

The skirt (largest piece) has 8 or 9 clips that hold it to the car and about 8 or 9 holes underneath to put screws into... A good way to find out the exact locations to drill for the clips is to put the clips on and put a little white-out or something on the tips of the clips and set the skirt against the car, then drill where you see the white-out marks! PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL AND TAKE YOUR TIME!! MAKE SURE THE MARKS ARE RIGHT!!! You don't want to have the skirts sitting on wrong! Then, once you have the skirt clipped to the car then drill some self-threading screws into the holes under the skirt... Finished, on the the door cap! :thumb:

The door caps (the upper piece) there are 6 or 7 clips that clip directly into the door... By the way, the door is really thick and it takes a bit to finally get through... Again, use the white-out method to find placement for drilling the holes, again, TAKE YOUR TIME! Then just pop the door cap on! Finished! :thumb:

Now switch sides and repeat the whole process over again! :p

If you don't receive the white clips to mount the pieces to the car, then go to a dealer and ask if they have any, but if worst comes to worst AutoZone or other parts stores have clips that you could use!

Now the other way you could do this project is to use a really good roll of double sided mounting tape... It's double sided and can be found at most auto painting shops... Don't just buy so no name tape either, get the good stuff, they will know what to use... :thumb:

I decided to drill on my 98 RS and this is how my skirts came out! Have fun! :rocks:

We spell out the word "you" in the technical forums, here. Just a head's up.

Man oem side skirts can be hard to find.

I went bidding on ebay, and one side (not a pair) but one side skirt sold for $145 it was a bidding frenzy.

I would post a Want to buy ad (wtb) in the classifieds

Thats what I did and picked a pair up for 130 shipped. Dealership costs 150/side

If your an RS make sure you get the door caps and the end caps as well.
