a 91 talon standard transmission which fluid does it use gear lube or auto tranny fluid
THANKS

I just had mine flushed like 3 months ago so I know that it take the gear lube (or synthetic fluid) it's not regular tranny fluid so don't replace it with that! It will f*** it up! I would get it flushed anyhow

thanks man thats what i thought was in it but wasnt sure and didnt want to fug it up any idea on how much it takes?

Roughly 3 quarts when just changing the fluid in the pan...3 to 3.5 more quarts if completely dry (all fluid out of torque converter like after rebuild)

ok, back up wil9000, standard means MANUAL, you said what an automatic takes...

bud195--any 75w90(recommeded) gear lube will work in a mt, however our trannies tend to be rather finicky (as are most fwd). redline or bg synchroshift are considered the best oils for them (also gm synchroshift is rumored to be the same as the bg at half the price, I would try it first). it takes 2.3qts for the transmission.

thanks nine and willfor the input i just got my car about 3/4 the way done and you was right a little over 2 qts.ended up and keep in mind i was puttin a clutch in it
1:clutch pressure plate and throwout bearing
2:both R&L axels  <long story
3:new rotors all 4 corners
4:new brake pads all 4 (looked good till i had it apartslides for calipers was fuged up
5:calipers
still not done with the rear but anyway my next question is this
clutch pedal is grabbing right off the floor holds great but is fugged up
never broke into the hydralics for it and am planning on bleeding it anyway but does anyone think that is the cure or is there an adjustment on the pedal because there isnt any on the trans
THANKS AGAIN

ALWAYS MONEY MONEY MONEY

If I remember right, (don't go by just me, it's been a while since I had a stick DSM) but I think the adjustment on the pedal should do it, along with the bleed. I think that there are also adjustments internally in the trans (not to sure on that though) I'd get a couple more opinions too

thaqnks again will your right pedalwas where it was at
and there wasnt any kinda adjustment on the trany on or in the bell and when i did the bleed there was absolutly no air in the system
and all in all the job went ok i guess after dealing with all the old rusted frooze up stuffand thanks again for your assistance
this is the best site i have found for info on these cars all you guys ROCK
