My car has been [very slowly] leaking small amounts of oil after I finish a dive. If it sits for extended periods of time, no additional oil will leak over what small amount leaks right after a drive.

I think I've discovered at least one point where the oil is coming from, but i don't know the name of the part. Can someone please tell me what the name of this rubber gasket is circled in the image below?

Looks like the clutch fork cover. Sounds like a rear main seal leak.
But judging from the way that whole grommet seems to be alot drier then the area around it, it could be a valve cover leak making it's way to that area.

i believe the rubber bushing part is called a scraper boot. don't hold me to it though. and from what it looks like in the picture it is bent a little bit. it but if you also look up, you see traces of most likely oil leaking down. the oil would not be coming from that boot, because that is were the slave cylinder engages, or dis engages your clutch. just from looking at the picture it seems like oil is leaking from somewhere up top and is just leaking down around the seal. hope that helped you out a little bit. good luck! :thumb:

Thanks guys. I used to have a valve cover leak, has since been fixed. I probably have multiple leaks, just trying to identify them one at a time. That rubber piece looked suspect to me because it is damaged.

That rubber boot isn't really a gasket or seal. Its main function is to prevent stuff from getting INTO your clutch/flywheel area, NOT to prevent oil from getting out. If oil is coming OUT of there you've got a leak somewhere else (like other guys mentioned).

That would make sense then. To be safe I would spray that whole area with brake cleaner or some simple green and just keep an eye on it to see if any new leaks pop up. Always check the dipstick before a drive.

While you're at it, check your PCV system. If it's missing, damaged or malfunctioning it will cause pressure to build up in the crank case. That may be the reason that all of your seals are leaking.
