Does it matter what sequence i tighten the bolts on my exhuast manifold? Replacing my turbo to manifold bolts, and found out i need to take the manifold off.

Thanks!!!

There is no pattern that is needed, but balance them. Especially when putting them back on. Do one on the left, then one on the right. This ensures that they will line up properly when you tighten them up.

I like to work from the inside out and progressively tighten them. That could just be me being OCD, but I torque it like I would when bolting together any two sealing surfaces.

Work in a star pattern starting from the middle.

Anytime you have a series of bolts, you should practice what Mike said. Start in the middle and work your way out in a star pattern. This ensures an even torque reading across the entire flange. It doesn't matter on the exhaust manifold, but on aluminum and other soft things (think intake manifold), it will cause the flange to warp.

sorry mike, I can't give you rep points yet :p

:D I don't need your pity points~!

But yeah... working from the middle in a star pattern will never lead you astray. If you want to be even more anal about it, fingertighten in the pattern, then start over and hand tighten in that pattern, and then torque to spec likewise. Completely necessary? Probably not, but it only takes an extra 2 mins to do and ensures proper seal/balance. (Hell I do it on my lugs).
