Ecu Wtf

the other day my car shut off and i lost spark and it wotn start again, ive switched the coil and CAS and was told to switch my ecu with my other one and see if it worked so i did. and it fried. a spot in the one corner and a spot just off the center but nothing is visible there. and i checked my old ecu and there is also a burn mark just off center to. is something in my car shorting that spot or is it just to leaky caps? if i get another ecu is there anyway to make sure its good? also is there some reason that it might be fry those like a short somewhere or soemthing? thanks

Was the other ecu a 91

it was 90 ecu

different ecu's they changed in 91 thats why most people with a 90 will change their set up to accept the 91 ecu cause it is a better ecu.

so would the ecu be the problem with getting no spark, or somethign else?

Make sure your hood isnt grounding out on the positive terminal of the battery. It will cause a world of problems with the ECU, especially the circuit that controls fuel. Dont ask how I know that.

but there isnt a chance of it being other wiring in the car that would cause it to short? if so what else could it be or is there a way i could check

i would be getting a voltometer/ohm tester and checking my coil pack, and test the maine plugs for it to make sure they are getting power if not check where you are dead at another easy way is to remove your battery cable the negative for about a minute then rehook and see if you fire if you do it is your ecu if not thats where i would start.

If you have burn marks in the ECU case you obviously have a problem with something arcing and shorting out. I doubt it is a problem with your ignition system.

i already switched the coil and tried and it didnt work and as for disconnecting the battery it was for about 10 minutes then reconnected and it still didnt fire, other ideas?

cranking the ignition fires the coil right which if he has a spot where his wiring has been grounded or maybe even chewed by some rodent it would be ground and "may" cause his ecu to short Wisemen if I am wrong correct me on this. it might be easier for some if they saw a pic of the burnt ecu's, to see where on your chip where it burnt. I wouldnt be of any help I dont do computers that much to know whats what.
