My only thought is... when u buy in bulk, #### is ALOT cheaper... also wholesale...

Food for thought.

Common Wes...... They should buy RPM's race block! I mean, what a deal!

Lets take a look at prices... and see what we come up with.

Weisco $399.00
Eagle Rods $359.00
ARP mains $59.00
Mitsu water pump $79.00
Clevites $100.00 ( mains and rod )
front cover $150.00
oil pump and gears $50.00
b shaft kit $49.00

$1245 so far, but we do not have a block yet. I would love to see who picks out there blocks!

$300 core charge for motor ( being generous )

Lets look at machine work............

Hot tank $50.00
bore and hone $150
assembly clean $50.00
line hone ( arp mains ) $125.00
assemble short block and side cover $350.00

Wow....... I bet there work is fabulous. I am at $2270.00. Anyone check my math? How can they do it for $570 less? Probably good ol fashion craftsmanship....

Regards

Are you sure Mike? Even if they buy in bulk?

so do u get a new shortblock or do u have to give them yours and they do it for you? does the 7 bolt crankwalk?

I actually asked them why they r selling so cheap. They said it's 1 month grand opening special. still seems very fishy.

buy in bulk...LOL They would have to buy out the engine parts companies(eagle, wiseco..etc.) in order to sell a shortblock that cheap!! Mike hows my turbo by the way:laugh: You are the best parts guy ive ever dealt with, i know you get props all the time, but i just wanted to let you know. Anyways, there is no way in hell i would buy an engine from this place. I think anyone else who is actually thinking about buying from this place should think the same. Nate

anyone know of magnus motorsports. They sell a shortblock that they say can handle 800hp. They are selling them for $3000 before core charge after the core charge its only $2250. Anyone know if there work is anygood or not?

Although the numbers really don't make sense for a engine builder that isn't doing their own machine work, they could be done. Someone who has the equipment, access to the parts, and wants to make a name could do something like that. If they didnt want to make a penny doing it.

Buying a short block on price alone, cheap or expensive may leave you disappointed. I've personally bought big name short blocks that weren't as advertised or had very questionable assembly or machine work. Some of the stuff I've seen on other peoples engines makes me cringe.

The other mistake you shouldn't make is thinking because they say I do this and this, that it gets done. If I could buy a short block done correctly and the end product was as advertised I wouldn't build them and sell them.

I deffinately wouldn't get their 2.4l because their using weisco piston's in them which mean that bye bye motor because if you do your research on the whole 2.4l motor concept, the 4g64s don't have enough oil squiters which means you need a special type of piston( which are out there don't know right now off the top of my head but if you would to just PM me and i'll figure it out for ya).

talonts1 : Magnus motorsports does look pretty trust worth as i've seen a few drag dsms his their motors but there are other places that build 2.4s

God yes, I would spend the extra buck on a trusted (known) motor builder. A built motor is way to costly and important to put in the hands of some Internet cook, with a good price. buyer beware. Some things are just worth paying for. a well built motor is definitely at the top of the list.

You are kidding right? :D

Mike, can you tell me the differance between your stage I, II, and III shortblocks? PM me if you like...

I live 20 min away from Toronto. I have been in Magnus a bunch of times. They do awsome work. Really good quailty, and i would trust them with me life. Plus marco is the funniest ####in guy i have ever met:thumb:

OMG

Yes SBR rules. Here is my motor that I am installing as we speak. Its basically what is in my profile. :thumb:

rdrkt: Why are you flaming?? i am pretty sure he was referring to the maxrpm 2.4l anyways...since they are the ones that come with wiseco's not the magnus. From everything I have heard, magnus builds an awesome engine. Also, I have not heard any complaints on the slowboy shortblocks. Nate

In the 4G64 engines you would need/prefer special pistons to make up for the lack oil squirters. :dsm: :thumb:
