I tried searching but couldn't find the answer I wanted so bare with me here. Ok, my brakes have been making a nasty noise lately. Kinda like a grinding noise and the at low speeds an annoying squeaking noise. Anyway, I pulled my tires off today to take a look, and on all four wheels the brake pads are touching the rotor all the time. The back part of a the drivers side front and rear are kinda rough, so I'm guessing that the calipers need rebuilt. My question is, would rebuilding the calipers fix the problem? Also, where is a good place to get a rebuild kit for a decent price? Also I'm going to need to rotors and money is kinda tight so would these be a good choice? http://www.logicperformance.com/~lo...page=product_info&cPath=12_37&products_id=531

Also forgot to mention that the pads have plenty of life on them so I don't think they are the problem. Thanks for the help.

In my opinion you might be best changing the rotors first. Its possible that you just have warped rotors.

I am at that junction now. I had a rear caliper stuck open and the rear right brake would smoke after 1.5 miles of driving. If you are on a budget maybe start with rotors first. if you are getting noise then i would assume something is grinding or there is warpage, and you said that the pads are in good shape so i personally do not think it is the calipers.

In addition are you sure the pads are rubbing? They are supposed to be very close to the rotor but not literally rubbing.

Something i would definately do when you change rotors is press all the pistons in and they all should move. if one or more will not go back into their default position then that would indicate a siezed caliper.

P.S. i believe the rear calipers have to be screwed in ( at least on 1g's that is the case)

They are definitely touching. :notgood: I tried to spin the rotor with the e brake off on the back ones and I could hear the rotor and pads rubbing, same with the front brakes.

the argument could be made and i would get another opinion but i think that it is ok as long as they arent applying pressure. you would know if it is bad rubbing because the brakes would smoke. this happened to me and i thought the car was on fire.

good luck and hold out till you get some more opinions :thumb:

Thanks for your help. They arnt smoking or rubbing bad enough to smell or anything. I am thinking about just rebuilding the fronts or maybe all of them I don't know. I'm not even sure how much a rebuild kit would be or what I would need can someone tell me what I might need or where to get it and so on? Thanks.
