Hi guys, first for those who dont know me ( most of you), im from mexico city, i'm a college student and i have a 97 gsx.

That car has always been my dream car, and since i owned a fwd spyder i knew the awd would be awesome.
Well the car has been a nightmare LOL, it has a auto/ manual swap ( a relly sketchy job btw) ,an Autozone clutch ROFL and auto rear lsd.
The vcu got toasted and has a broken dif, i was able to source all the drivetrain parts over the time ( all imported from the states).

and now im in the point of swaping all bad and wrong parts with the "new" parts. ( 96 tranny, 96 T case, exedy oem replacment clutch, manual LSD diferential and lsd axels).

so heres a few questions for you guys:

What oil should i use in the tranny? ( i might be able to get redline mt90 from a guy here but not 100% sure).

Should i use the same oil for the tcase and dif?

the 96 T case i got was working good on the car when i was pulled, but it had rtv all over the place, so i opened the inspection door and saw everything was almosat brand new, i just found some shavings, so i cranked the whole thing and found a plastic rail that was torn and burnt.

WHat does that rail do? Spread the oil evenly? and is there a part number for it?

i had a 97 t case i swaped those rails. (if i sell the 97 tcase i would feel bad selling a pice thats not working right. thats why i want to replace it even if i have a good one already).

Also do i need to replace my rear axels? (they are lsd but auto)

and last i need the passenger braket for the "engine" mount, is there anny place that ships international with reasonable shiping prices? ( its riduculos paying 150 dls in shiping for a 60 dls part):banghead:

Thanks for reading my long post :hellyeah: and sorry for my english.

P.S. I forgot to mention that mitsubishi started in mexico in 2004 so they dont carry anny parts from older models, and the evo was never sold here (only special luky people, and they imported les than 10 per year), and they dont carry most of the parts ,i wanted to get diaqueen for the evo but they insted told me it uses mopar 75-90, would using that be ok?

The best oil to use in the trans is Diaqueen. If you can't get it, then Redline MT85, MT90, or MTL will work fine. For the T-case and rear diff, you want to use Redline Shockproof.

thanks i've read that befor but its good to have everything fresh :D

that reminds me, a close friend (who was one of the luky to get a legal imported sti , only 5 on that year) just bought some royal purple gl5 for his tranny and ofered me some LOL, im glad i told him no thanks after reading that again :hellyeah:.

also anny heads up on other questions?

UPDATE--------------

Looks like the guy that sells redline only has redline 75w90ns , ( i read on team rip------>http://www.teamrip.com/manual_transmission_gear_oil_recommendation_info.html<----- thats a good oil....) what you guys think of it? would it be good with my stock tranny?

and i asked about the shockproff he only has 1 bottle of it, should i get it and fill the rear dif or t case with redline 75ws-90ns?

an other update whent to the dealer and asked them about the diaqueen oil they just gave me that look :hmm::tease: haha and tryed to sell me mopar at for automatic tranies wtf, then a guy that knows his stuff came in and checked the data base and told me he can import the oem evo fluid but it will cost me 90 dls per quart, and 15 dls the t case and rear dif ones.....

could i use redline shock prof on the rear lsd dif, the mitsu dealer thing ( 15 dls one) on the t case and redline 75w90ns on the tranny?

also the dealer guy (the helpfull one) told me they only imported 15 evos to mexico, 5 on 2005 and 10 on 2007, when i told him i wanted the oem evo oil he fliped of his chair haha.

You can use Redline Heavyweight (red label) or Lightweight (blue label) Shockproof in the transfer case and rear differential. 0.7qts in the rear diff and 0.4qts in the transfer case. You will need 2.5qts of Redline 75w90NS in the transmission.

Our cars came stock with 80w90 gear oil in the transmission, transfer case and rear differential.

As for auto vs. 5-speed rear axles, they should be identical. the rear differential ring gear and pinion gear are the only different things between 5-speed and auto. Non LSD vs. LSD axles have different inner CV joints. Non ABS vs. ABS axles have different outer CV joints.

For the passenger-side motor mount bracket, do you need simply the lower portion that bolts to the transmission, or the upper portion that bolts to the frame? The upper mount that attaches to the frame is MB911272; The lower mount that attaches to the transmission is MD744671.

The transfer case plastic oil guide is a discontinued part, and is only available from Japan for around $50. You don't need to have it in the transfer case; it isn't super life-threatening. Just remove the debris and what remains of the oil guide and reassemble the transfer case. I do have one or two of these oil guides in stock brand new if you really wanted one.

thanks alot tim
i guess i l will not use the oil gide.
aslo i need the mount that goes to the transmission.

try not to LOL at the plate the Previous owner put instead.... hahaha

also i forgot to ask about this, the front passenger side axle has a broken boot and one end came out came out.

i think it needs a safty pin or something im not sure what keeps it in place.

Well, you are going to need a new boot kit, CV joint cup retaining wire clip, and CV boot clamps.

Worst-case scenario, you should be able to get a brand new axle if you have a parts store locally for less than $75 for an aftermarket brand axle.

As well, that shift cable bracket looks incorrect.

The proper one is MD747231.

You are also missing the transmission breather bulb above the passenger side axle seal (the hole with all the residue around it) -- MD733296

wow greate eye!

The" new" transmission came with the breather bulb :)
im not sure if it has the shifter braket will check tomnorrow and post a picture.

and lastly the only shop that sells replacement axles for dsms is autozone, im not sure if its worth giving it a try, i think theirs is just chinise crap.

Autozone sells the Duralast Gold 8738N axle; no core charge; nice little axle, costs $58.00. That's for the passenger - side.

just got the axle today, here i had to pay for no core but it was only 10 usd more.
thanks!

i'll be using redline 75w90ns for the transmission, and light weight shockproff in the rear differential and for the Tcase im still not sure.

also got the right braket for the cables only need thetransmission mount base.
I sent you a pm tim!
