Hello, fellow enthusiasts! Though, in my case, it is MMC's Montero/Pajero/Shogun that I am referring to. I have owned 3 Monteros since 1997: a 1990 LWB (Gen 1 4DR), a 1995 Montero SR, and a 1996 Montero SR. I still own and drive the '95 with a total of 114k on the odometer.
I recently acquired a MUT-II Plus with a box of goodies for my Montero and I'm hoping to recoup some of what I spent by selling the bits I don't need. I figured I'd come here first, but I'll probably bounce over to other forums (like 3si.org, DSM Lovers FB, DSM talk, etc.) to see if there's anyone interested there as well. The condition of these are not "new old stock" - these came from a working garage and are as good as you can expect for decades-old cartridges and as such are sold as-is. I have no way of testing each (my '95 Montero ECU is not programmable) but I did test the scanner and the two MRP-N(8M) cartridges that match my vehicle and they both worked. Yes, I might consider selling the MRP-N(8M) cartridge for the right price at a later point but for now it is not for sale as I like the security of having a back up.
Pictures are attached - the white labels on some items are my own based on research that I might have incorrect (as far as applicable years go). In the end, I was just verifying which things actually worked on my Montero so the labels were for my own use.
What I have to sell:
One (1) genuine, rare OEM Mitsubishi MB991544 Chrysler Corporate Interface (I/F) Cartridge - $250
This specialized hardware cartridge is used to expand Mitsubishi factory scan tools (MUT-II / MUT-III), enabling diagnostic communication with vehicles built under the Chrysler-Mitsubishi partnership (Diamond-Star Motors / DSM). Perfect for factory-level diagnostics on mid-to-late 90s platforms like the Mitsubishi Eclipse, Eagle Talon, Dodge Avenger, and Chrysler Sebring. Essential piece to complete your vintage factory dealership rig.
One (1) MB991717 – Multi-Use Memory Card - $150 SOLD
The vital IC/PCMCIA-style expansion card that slots into the bottom of the tool to store vehicle update files. Very rare and hard to find.
One (1) original Mitsubishi MB991711 MMC ECU Reprogramming Interface Cartridge - $125
This rare dealer-level cartridge was engineered for flashing and rewriting legacy K-Line/ISO protocol ECUs on late 1990s and early 2000s Mitsubishi vehicles (such as legacy Mirage, Galant, and Eclipse platforms). An excellent and hard-to-find addition for automotive tool collectors, specialized JDM repair shops, or tuners building an era-correct master dealer diagnostic kit.
Five (5) MB991701 – Reprogramming ROM Pack Cartridges - $75/each
A total of five separate flash pack modules featuring different factory lot/version numbers. Having a collection of five allows you to keep multiple era-specific software lines or recall campaigns ready to plug-and-play without constantly erasing data.
One (1) MB991855 ECU Update Adapter Harness - $25
12-pin to 13-pin adapter harness / reprogramming adapter that connects the main diagnostic harness to the data link connector on specific older vehicles.
If anyone is interested in the entire lot, this would be an incredibly rare, comprehensive OEM Mitsubishi MUT-II ECU Reprogramming Master Kit. This is a near complete (things are selling so I have to add 'near') dealer-level package engineered for flashing, updating, and rewriting factory ECUs on late 1990s and early 2000s Mitsubishi platforms.
If you already have a MUT-II or MUT-III scan tool and run a specialized JDM performance shop, restore vintage imports, or are looking to build a completionist master dealer kit for legacy Mitsubishi platforms (like the Lancer Evolution, Galant VR-4, 3000GT, Eclipse, or Mirage), this hardware bundle is exactly what you need and I'd sell the whole collection of the above pieces for$650 $525. (Price will be modified as items sell)
But wait, there's a few more....
I also have an almost full SWS kit (I say almost because there's apparently another interface cable available that connects to the door harness):
One (1) MB991806 SWS Monitor Cartridge with one (1) MB991812 Column Harness Adapter - $250 for the pair
The MB991806 is applicable to any MMC that uses the proprietary Smart Wiring System multiplex network (late 1990s to mid-200s). The cartridge is used explicitly by technicians for Encrypted Code Registration (syncing immobilizer keys, programming transponders, or replacing security ECUs as well as checking body computer communication lines). Applies to vehicles like Lancer & Lancer Evolution, Grandis, and gen 3 Monteros but thought I'd mention it here since there are sometimes crossover enthusiasts!
FYI - I also have an extra MUT-II Interface cable available if anyone is interested:
One (1) MB991497 MUT-II Interface Cable - $75
OEM communication and test harness adapter used with the Mitsubishi M.U.T.-II (Multi-Use Tester II) diagnostic system that acts as a vital test harness/communication cable connecting older Mitsubishi diagnostic equipment (the MUT-II main unit MB991496) to the vehicle's diagnostic data link connector.
Let me know if you have any questions! I'm located just north of Detroit and all prices above do not include shipping or insurance but we can chat about what works best to get item(s) to you! I'll wait a few days before posting on other forums and will come back to update the list when things sell. Ultimately, they will end up on eBay for international selling prospects but my Montero owning experience leads me to offer them to enthusiasts here in the states first - I know how hard it can be to find the bits sometimes!
