Background
This is a culmination of 12 years of learning, collecting parts and building around what was once my 98 GST. Too rusty and electronically flawed to justify deeper investment, the GST was dismantled after a 3rd catastrophic transmission failure.

The project sat idle for roughly 5 years in my families old Quonset hut garage collecting dust while I contemplated major rust repair, a full rewire and AWD swap. That plan changed quickly when my Facebook news feed delivered me a fresh listing of a rust free, all wheel drive 2ga Eclipse rolling chassis, posted for the right price and by the legendary DSM god Rob Fig. The engine and body harnesses were well preserved, the body was straight enough and it was even the same silver pearl color as my first car.

It was meant to be, I claimed the car less than an hour after it was posted, made plans with a couple of friends, their truck and a U-Haul and about a week later we drove 18 hours round trip from NH to PA to make the deal.

The car was ugly, sitting amongst 2 dozen painstakingly restored 2gs, most of which were being built to spec for their owners, but it was a perfect candidate to re-home my powertrain and start with a blank canvas that I could shape into my own creation.

2 years later, the car is significantly closer to representing what I had envisioned when I was 16 and buying that rotted out GST as a first car that I wouldn’t get to truly drive for almost 4 years while learning everything I needed to get it going again.
