i was looking thru a bunch a treads but all were old so i was curious as to what people use NOW and why.I see dsmlink is still very popular and have seen AEM system go for around 1000 used. i would think the aem system or similar especially in the processor speed and everything else. was just curious as what other are using now

You could check around you area and see what tuners there are more familiar with if not tuning yourself. I got a good deal with mine when I bought it and have no complaints. I've heard AEM is not as user friendly, but I have no experience with it. I do find DSMLink to be easy to learn how to tune with when I done mine. Great support from the website and Owner.

i have an aem standalone for my rzr 900xp--but dsmlink and aem are not the only ones out there that's why i am asking my question. There is not any people here for tuneers. Know that dsmlink people are good to deal with is good to know

The only tuning software I have personal experience with is ECMlink (aka DSMlink) and I would highly recommend it for our cars. There is so much in the way of resources and guides, that just about anyone can calibrate and tune their 4g63 using this software. Almost every issue has already been run into by someone at some point.
I bought ECMlink V3 with almost no technical experience. I could do an oil change and swap a flat tire, but that was about it. But I got V3 anyway and just read the online articles, watched the videos, asked an occasional question on the forums, and soon enough, I had a quick and good running car. Today's V3 can handle just about everything the average DSMer wants to do.

My neighbors down the road were die hard Megasquirt fans for a long time with their Acuras and SRT4s. I think recently they've upgraded to something more modern like AEM or something like it. My only issue with those options are that you have to start from the ground up. They waste time just getting the car to idle and start up with these piggyback systems, while ECMlink threads right with the stock ECU on our cars.

However, my goals have always been fairly conservative- a 16g turbo set to 22psi - so it really depends on what you're doing with your car and what kind of goals you're shooting for.

Ecmlink is probably the best choice for 99.9% of people. It has its limitations (most will never run into them), but for the price, the user friendliness, and product support it can't be beat.I really doubt our platform would be where it is today if it weren't for Tom and Dave.

I have lots of experience with ecmlink and a little with AEM. Ecmlink is much, much simpler to use IMO. I have seen all kinds of tuning software used by friends on various platforms and to me they usually either look like something NASA would use, or an Atari game.

I have a couple friends that use the SAFC-2 to tune with. It seems to work decent, but it's pretty basic and lacks a lot compared to AEM and DSMLink.
At this point I'm not even sure a safc is considered a tuning tool vs an electronic hack

ECMlink is the MOST prolific tuning/logging platform for the DSM. The cost/benefit is unmatched. A distant second deservingly goes to EVOScan/ECU Flash with the Tactrix cable for later 2g "black box" ECUs. This method is technically a bit cheaper, but is not nearly as user friendly as ECMLink between software issues and finnicky cables.

anyone got a dsmlink for a good price for 1997 gst?

When you are a proven member, you can post a WTB ad in the classifieds. Until then, you could create one in your regional forum. Unfortunately, this is not the place to do so.

Let me share another link for you:

Please review this site for the questions about what is needed. I am under the assumption you are planning on going with ECMLink. No benefit to changing the ECU otherwise with the exception of your current one failing or going with an older setup such as Ostrich.

i understand "teach a man to fish" but would wish people would just answer a question with a simple answer without making a big deal-i understand the same question may have been asked but dang, i am new and curious
