my friend had just traded this other guy in town for this 95 gst had it for an hour and a half and needless to say you can guesss the rest.
he brought it over to my house cause he was saying it was having a cut out problem with either air on or off i dont recall which one.. so i have him take me for a ride in it out of our sudivision and down the road well we turn around in a parking lot and come out hot. spinning 1st barking 2nd grabbed third and so on.. as we are slowing down.. prob still doing 70 or so.. out of nowhere BOOM>>immediately had a glass sand spray in my face.. i was the passenger... buck had jumped across the road and well.. see for yourself

these are the pics i took right after it happened

the next day we go back to see just how bad it was.. and realize things could have been way worse where the skids start is where we hit the deer

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/50007640@N06/5279122093/" title="IMAG0152 by keenanwillis, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5121/5279122093_275bd662c3.jpg" width="299" height="500" alt="IMAG0152" /></a>

and this is where picture 1 is.. its where we ended up

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/50007640@N06/5279123329/" title="IMAG0153 by keenanwillis, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5127/5279123329_9150e664e6.jpg" width="500" height="299" alt="IMAG0153" /></a>

and of course the dsm aftermath

It BROKE the exhaust cam gear? Holy shit, man. That car is totaled.

you know i would have said the same thing. but he is determined to get it going again. we actually got a new cam and belt and other things and actually fired her up.. ran rough.. compression test result no so good. this is how she is going

Damm that sucks, at least your alive cause it could of been worse... I cant believe that buck broke the cam gear:notgood:

yeah we actually think the hood broke it after the buck dented it in

You atleast pulled the antlers off right? You can show all your buddies that big buck you shot ;) jk sorry about that man.

haha no.. 2 ppl came by and were like "can we take this deer !?" no joke.. i was in the hospital getting my eyes looked at so i didnt get so see them pull it out... had the car 1.5 hours only had liability too :ohdamn:

A skilled mechanic (or any DSM owner) could get it back up and running without too much involved, but had an insurance agent looked this thing over it would've been totaled as soon as the hood was lifted.

I'm glad the deer (and only the deer) died. Had it not died I think I would have literally gotten out of the car and kicked it in the deer balls repeatedly for ruining a good car.

actually i think the first guy there either broke its neck or cut its throat or something like that

Geez, as if we don't already have enough problems to worry about with an interference engine, now we have to add, deer jumping out in front of car and knocking timing belt off while breaking cam gears to the list. I didn't know deers hate DSMs. If this ever happens to me in any vehicle, I'm sure to soil myself.

Pics of the buck, or it didnt happen. J/K, man that sucks. I had a deer run into my old Camaro while I was sitting still, and it did almost 2k worth of damage. That's why I blast all of them I can.

right no picture no deer.. and thats exactly why the guy killed the deer.. because when my friends dad got there.. HE DIDNT THINK WE HIT A DEER?? im like hello the deer is over on the side of the road not to mention umm the deer hair and the BIG HOLE IN THE WINDSHIELD!

Yes, My situation was never good!
But almost done with the rebuild now, just trying to find one damn valve spring seat washer so i can put the final valve in and install my new mls gasket :)

You're talking about the cupped washer that goes on the head side of the spring? I have a whole Ziploc full of cylinder head parts from heads I've stripped over the years....PM me if you end up not being able to find it. I'll throw one in a regular first-class envelope and have it headed your way.

Do you know any auto stores where I can find one? I dont really have the time to wait for one being shipped since Ive been without a car for a good 2 or so months.

^LOL kyle.. whats another week hah let me go check the bads of stuff i have... cause you and i both know my garage is like a dsmgraveyard its own

Yes please do! And bring that engine over here!

Good lesson and tip to everyone.... DOTN SWERVE. Just hit the damn thing, you can get hurt a lot worse by trying to dodge a deer or animal.

Also...slow down. Im pretty sure as in most states back roads are MAX speed of 55mph.

There was no swerving going on there, just out of no where solid crash, hood over windshield ditch.

Yeah I was going a little too fast, but it was only at certain speeds when the cut out happened.

Not really. Parts stores generally only stock items that wear out (springs / lifters), and a flat washer doesn't wear out. Other than a dealer, you may be SOL.

Well thats my luck! I PMed you so maybe we can work something out? Possibly haha.

Just PM with your name and address....I'll look tonight and if I have a couple I'll throw them in an envelope and have them headed your way tomorrow via USPS first-class.

The Deed is done my friend. Like I said I appreciate it loads, always nice to have fellow DSM'ers helpin out.
