Traded my last DSM for this one. Had a 95 eclipse GST with full-boltons, evo3 16g and link. Had been looking for an AWD Auto 1g for a project, or a mirage to do an Evo 3 clone. One of my friends had this car so I snatched it. A while later and he had destroyed the motor in my old car so we pulled the 1g 7-bolt out this car to throw in his car so he could sell it. So now I am doing a mild build on this car.

The car.

I call it the unicorn because its only got 1 Hood pin. Yeah I am not sure what the prior owner though he was doing but whatever. Before my friend ryan got this car it was in bad shape.

Some WTF hard pipes, a WTF intake, and A piece of an aquarium pump as a recirc tube.

Also, No heat shields, and only 1 fan.

So Ryan got it and fixed a few things. Proper FMIC (Punishment), custom made intake pipe, and a new valve cover. Still had some minor Oil leaks.

So after he traded it to me. I order a few things.

Pretty Much quit leaking oil After I got the cam seals, oil filler cap, and valve cover taken care of. But I also went ahead and did the t-belt, and treated her to a pair of slim fans.

Then I decided to properly delete the emissions, and swap throttle bodies for one I had rebuilt.

Also got a heat shield in there for the o-2 housing. Making a heat shield for the Manifold was beyond my metal working abilities. But I have one now. Notice the ssqv as well.

Traded the 255 wally out for a 190 because I have no AFPR.

So fast forward a few months of me enjoying the car and not really doing much else due to funds/time. My friend has destroyed my old engine, and we swap them over. I get a bunch of newer parts out of this deal, and some cash to help with rebuild efforts. I just recently got to start on this because of time constraints with school and pre-mob for a deployment that got canceled.

Tore down my old bottom end. Will be rebuilding this one.

Also have ordered another bottom end from a tuners member. But I lucked out and managed to pickup a ####ed block for free. Balance shafts are bad mmkay. Talking, busted block, broken rods, broken girdle bad.

You just can't rev a stock bottom end to over 10k. Bad idea. At least the crank is okay, just needs a polish. Oil pump/front case is okay as well.

Collection of parts and shit waiting on bottom end to get here tomorrow I hope!

And I went ahead and installed a Barbed fitting in my j-pipe.

Thanks for the comments. I main grabbed that block to make into a coffee table similar to the one on top gear. Gonna take it and have most of the metal bored out to make it lighter. Paint, mount a piece of glass on it. Was pleasantly surprized when I pulled it apart the 3 pistons were fine, 1 rod was good, front case and crank were good.

Any how, some updates.

Ordered a Replacement intercooler core as mine was banged up and leaking pretty bad.

Only about 5,000 miles on this head. Rebuilt it myself, was in my last car. Glad to have it back.

Yes that is a 1g N/T Throttle body, 2g intake manifold, 2g turbo mani, and 16g.

New hood, no dents no holes.

UPS Came.

Needs a lot of clean up. But Pistons are tight in there, and you can still see the hone marks. Balance shafts deleted. Gotta get it home and plastigauge the bearings and what not.

So I was pleasantly surprized when I got this sucker home. It was out of an auto, already has a flexplate. Considering I destroyed the flexplate pilot bushing trying to get it out of the old engine, that saved me a few $ on getting a new pilot bushing. Called STM up before my order shipped out to get it taken off.

Cleaned it up a bit. Still needs some more work on the cylinders and the mating surface but the oil pan surface, water pump surface, and front case surface are good to go.

Some pics of the whole process over the last week or so.

Trans removed.

Didnt drop it though, sat it on blocks, and raised the car.

Everything back together. Found out I am gonna have to buy hood pins before I can drive it. That latch does not work. Oh well, at least now it will have 2 of them.

Looks good. I'd try finding a latch at a junkyard or something. Can never be too careful. I've never really trusted hood pins myself, but that's just me.

Hood pins are required safety equipment at many tracks.

Looks good. The easiest way I found to drop the trans and install it is to use a cherry picker and hook the chain on the hook that's right in the middle on top of the trans. It makes life so much easier!

Works great for manuals, but the torque convertor kept falling out of my auto.

Really? They just seem so flimsy to me.

There is a difference between 15$ spectre hood pins and 80$ aerocatch, or other good brands.

Moved it, a bit. Need gas and hood pins still.

You just have to make sure it comes out with the trans.
