Well, since getting the H!C i started researching all over again to make sure i had my facts right, and one thing i noticed that is listed in the holset oil demands is
"must see at least 2 liters of oil per minute" thats's a LOT! I'm thinking little _4 line with .080 restrictor isn't going to flow 2 complete liters in a minute (although i haven't tested this)
Also i was looking at OEM oil feeds and they are sometimes hard metal lines about 3/8ths I.D. (close to -6 an)
So my thoughts are this.. since pressure is a result of restriction to volume, what if you used a large feed line, and no restrictor..the larger line might allow the volume to pass, but be large enough to keep the pressure from building in the line/turbo back to the filter housing ( i will test this for sure) My only worry is bleeding off such a large amount of oil to the turbo and how it would effect volume to the rest of the engine's bearings?
Part 2.) Tonight i centered up a t3 .63 AR housing on the mill, broke out the boring bar and setup with the OEM holset housing on the bench and along with some measuring tools and math started machining the housing out.. The larger area where the oil back plate goes only needs .021 more machined from it (as well as a piece of the volute cleaned up, and i need to remove .147" from the monor/exducer area and it will be ready to accept the holset H1c/hx-35 turbine (since ive read they both have the same specs exactly with 60mm exducer), i figure if i don't lke the upgraded h1c i'm building i can always put a hx35 in the same housing later on down the road
Here's a couple of pics, the first one shows the general machining, the second is supposed to highlight the small area of the volute end i need to finish bringing to the proper ID ( I was strictly machining to the depth of that diameter based on the OEM holset housing which is why that is left there)
The third pic shows the holset 500 CM^ double huge no wastegate housing (joking on measurement it's not marked) next to the new machined piece
The last pic shows a lil' sumptin i picked up today to replace my sparco 18 x 6 x 3 top to bottom FMIC (havent measure but thisis a huge greddy/trust unit im told and looks well build and well flowing)
As soon as i order the upgraded wheel and housing for the compressor and either have the parts component or assembly balanced i'll have actually more than the holset i wanted to start with (i chose to upgrade the H1c instead of trading to an HX solely because i HATE those snap rings MHI and holset use on compressor housings and I love the v band on the H1series holsets, can't get any easier to work on
note: i want to upgrade to the MWE housing but i want the blocker/silncer ring in case i want to adjust it, if they don't come with them hopefully some one has one laying around.
