I found out I dont have coolant lines to turbo can I keep this way?

Well after my turbo took a crap(14b) I decided to upgrade to a e316g..When removing I found the coolant lines caped off and crimped..I read that it will shorten the life of the turbo in time but Im putting on a e316g just to get me by and to see if I wanna go 50 trim or not.

Will this be ok...

No! If the turbo is designed to be both water and oil cooled then it needs both end of story. I wonder why a 14B was set up like that.

Yes that's what I wondered I put at least 2000 hard miles on that turbo like that. But I've read that someone has 10k on there 16g with no water cooled and still going strong but they said that they turbo time like 2 mins after each shut down...I can't find cooler lines by tomorrow. I've had so much down time with this car. Is there a way to make my own just from a hardware store stuff?

YAAAAY..lol I looked everywhere but there I hear bad things about them.

EDIT..But is everything there because I have nothing on one and one of them is like squeezed closed. It dont look like everything is there.

Those lines connect to the turbo. You should have 2 hoses blocked off somewhere that connect to those lines. Ill try and find a good pic to help explain.

I'm going to try a junk yard but If someone was going to take off a turbo there just going to rip the lines.

With hardware store supply?

I was told that I have to remove the main coolant tube to replace the line.

Not really.

Water lines are in place to minimize oil coking in the event that the engine is shut down without the turbo being properly cooled down (common on daily-drivers). They are NOT "required", even if the turbo you have installed has the coolant line provision.

The warm water in the turbo's center housing prevents a rapid cooldown, where the oil is able to crystalize and burn to the turbine shaft and internal parts. This is common on cars that are driven daily by owners who don't understand the steps to proper turbo care.

I've seen Mitsu TD05/TD06 and Garrett T3 center housings both with and without the water line provision....it all depends on whether the turbo in question came factory on a specific car or not. I've also seen guys run turbos that had water line provisions without water lines, and they were fine.

Just turbo time the thing and you will be fine, i'm running my 16g with oil only, soooooo much simpler when you have to remove things...

i know how that is i have a friend and he has a turbo timer on his gst which is his dd and he has it set to 30 sec no matter how hard he drives it only cools for 30 sec, on the sun visors on a 1g it says to at least let cool for a minute. i dd my 91 gst and it never cools less than 1 min is my lowest setting on my turbo timer

I got mine set to 2 minutes since i'm running the 16g oil cooled only.

OK...well I travel about 2hrs away today to get the lines...lol...Thanks everyone for the help...I can use some help here...Just installed 16g and the car stumbles what now?
