cxmotorsports big 16g, good or bad?

Ya know I dont have this turbo or have ever had it,but from searching and reading ebay 16g threads there really a hit or miss. Some people run them for many miles and never have a problem. Some have a problem the minute they start them, that could be from a bad install.I just think when you can get one that is proven time and time again for really only a 100 bucks more why take the risk of being one of the guys that it does fail on.You can get the MHI evo3 from turbochargers.com for 459 bucks so why take the chance.I could see if the MHI was like 700 bucks or something like that but thats just my opinion on the matter.

Yes, I've read ALOT of the "ebay" threads. I was wondering more specifically about this seller and his/her product. If everyone just "bought the good one", everyone would be rockin GT40's.

they come with a one year warranty(15 day free, after that 20% restocking fee and buyer pays return shipping)

I know, I read that in the ebay description. Looking for more of a personal response though.

Turbo looks like the EVO III GT from China. Like the "ported" casting on the exhaust side. I don't think thats a MHI turbo. Well for the price I'd probably do it too. I'm just sticking to the 14b for now.

A friend has a used MHI Big 16g for $250 + ship. Not sure if he wants to do the whole shipping thing, I think he wants to sell it locally instead. PM me if you're interested and I'll ask for you. The 1-year warranty does sound good for the ebay turbo though. Its up to you.

Forced performance has them on sale for $429. Pretty good deal and one of the best vendors, IMO

I wouldnt buy that, spend the extra cash and get one thats proven. Ive had my MHI Evo 3 16g on my car now for well over 20k miles with no problems what so ever. Yea, the Ebay turbo has a 1 year warranty, but how long is this company going to be around to vouche for your warranty or how do you know if they are going to honor it if something fails? Are they going to pay for a rebuild if the turbo somehow drains oil like crazy and your motor seizes? They actually have package deals on some vendors websites that come with the E3B16g, cast manifold, Evo o2 housing, all hardware/oil feed line and everything else you need to get going for decent prices. Im sure the Mods dont want another "I think my turbo's blown" thread.:thumb:
