So I just replaced my turbo about a week ago. It went pretty smoothly, but now I have a vacuum leak. My car idles high and the BOV flutters. So I checked all my vac lines, and at first couldn't find anything. I finally came across this hole in the back of my BOV that I never noticed was there before. It's right under the port on the back of the BOV that goes to the intake manifold. I don't know what it's there for, but I can hear it leaking. Anyone else with a Greddy RS bov know if something's suppose to go in that hole, or have any idea what it's there for?

That hole vents the low pressure side of the diaphragm to atmosphere, and it should not leak when the car is at idle. It sounds like you have a ruptured diaphragm. You can pull the BOV off and apply some pressure to the high pressure side of the diaphragm (at the barbed fitting) with a compressor. If it leaks, then you probably need a replacement.

This is what happened to my Type S. When I purchased a new diaphragm, I found out it was $60. This is a pretty expensive little piece of rubber! I hope it doesn't rupture again anytime soon.

Like Don said, that hole is there to vent the lower chamber under the diaphragm to atmospheric pressure, but there shouldn't be any leaks from it as that should be a "pressure/vacuum free" area. Only two spots there can be a leak, from the diaphragm like mentioned above or there is also a seal around the valve stem.

You say your BOV also flutters, when does it do this? (only at low boost, only at high boost, all the time?), more then likely you will have to adjust it abit. The way you need to adjust it will depend on when the fluttering happens.

It only flutters at low boost, at high boost and vents normally. I thought about the screw on the top of being the problem, but I have it backed out as much as it will go. That should be making the spring soft. I really don't wanna buy another bov so I hope it's something else.

You probably have it set correct/as good as you'll get it. Your just getting a little flutter at low boost & not hurting anything. Make sure to use pipe dope on the adjusting bolt ontop & the fitting where you connect the vacuum hose as these can be sources of leaks. As far as the leak through the vent hole, refer to what I said above, there are only two spots you could be having an issue with.

On my Type S, I performed the "single-spring mod", which cured my compressor surge problem (flutter) at low boost levels. I'm not too familiar with the internal construction of the Type RS compared with the Type S. If the Type RS contains two springs - a heavier spring and a lighter spring like the Type S, then this mod may cure your flutter. Here's a link with details on the single-spring mod: http://www.evomoto.com/tech_info.php?tPath=1&tech_id=7

It would be interesting to find out what happens with your blow off valve because I was actually looking at switching for a RS from my SSQV to get a little different sound, but now that im hearing this im starting to wonder a bit. Keep us posted

Well don't let one person's bad experience convince you otherwise!! I switched form the SSQV to the RS back in the day, and I love them both. Depends if you wanna switch for the sound you are venting or what, but performance wise they are both pretty good for what you're runnin.
