Im tryign to decide what turbo to run. Im FWD so thats a big factor. I already have a sbr tubular manifold and a tial 38mm external wastegate for when i go with the new setup. I want the car for drag racing/ roll on's and just a overall fun car to drive. One of my main concerns is to quick of spool up but then i dont want it to laggy. With the evo16g i see people runnign in the 20's for boost to get what the vtrim gets at like 10-16. I really liek this guys setup and i would probably wanna go with soemthign very similar if i got the vtrim: http://www.turbochallenge.com/rocky.htm
Im not really lookign for a certain HP number but i wanted around 300 on pump with out a problem. Which i see is easily done on the vtrim. I really like the to4b and it has everything i want power wise, im just afraid of it beign to laggy. I also see alot of people runnign better track times on the evo16. Is it because of the to4b being newer and less people have it on a FWD?
It may seem im all about the vtrim but i am still very open to the evo16. Im just use to the t-25, and its ready to go so i wanna be ready for when i need a new turbo and i wanna start buyign stuff and havign it ready.
What is everyones opinion on this? Sorry for long post. IF i made anythign unclear just ask and i will explain better. Thanks in advance for your opinions.

I made over 400hp and ran 11.4 with a evo316g which is better than any Vtrim from bullsey that I know off.
So I would say get the 16g. Plus its cheaper.

I had a HUGE thread on this awhile back, Over 25 pages actually. If you search, You can most likly find it. It's packed with information. It has the same thread title as yours almost, Because at first I thought it got revived or something..

We will have about 8 turbos all on the dyno next week, four of them are from Bullseye. We will be posting all graphs, etc. in about 10-14 days.

Since all the turbos will be on the same motor, same exact setup, same dyno,etc... should clear up a lot of questions about how different turbos perform, etc.

That is very interesting. I look foward to reviewing your results.
Will it be posted on your site or on these forums?

Regarding the v-trim. I have personally ran it on my car. It was good for making power, but I had driveability issues with it. It suffered from extreme compressor surge until the day it died.

For goals around the 300 HP mark, I would recommend the E3 16G over the v-trim. (20+ psi is where the fun begins :p )

What's the setup you'll be testing them on?

I can't wait.

Could you fill us in on what Turbo's you will be running?

This I can do!

Evo III 16g
Evo III GT (If a vendor will supply one to me, I can return after test)
SBR Bastard 20G
SBR G50
PTE BB 57 trim
PTE BB 60 trim
Bullseye To4b V trim
Bullseye To4b 57 trim
Bullseye S200

Please allow until December 9th for the testing to be done. I will be leaving on Wednesday for PRI, and this will slow us down a little bit. I feel confident the 9th is an attainable goal however.

Any Q's, feel free to post em here.

Are all the turbo's going to be run at a Standard boost level? like 25psi

Or are all gonna to be run to there max?

I would assume all turbos will be run at 20 psi on pump gas for comparison test.

After this, we will run each turbo on race gas, turn up the boost, and see what happens!

What caused it to die?

maybe you also want to consider longevity of the turbo, if so, with the evoIII being a mass production turbo, and well it's been known to move some air and last.

I'm assuming cuse of death was compressor surge. It simply developed nasty shaft play (the blades were touching the housing causing a whistle). Upon taking it apart, the bearings looked ok (no foreign material in them) and the shaft had a small blue spot, but it did not look starved of oil. I've seen shafts starved of oil and mine did not even compare.

I feel it was the constant harsh compressor surge that did it in. Bullseye was, however, very good with their warranty. I ended up upgrading to their 50-trim and I have not had any problems since.

Hell yeah.. that's great news on hearing about the testing. I'm planning on an upgrade over my FP ported B28 sometime in Janurary. I myself was thinking about the T04BVtrim, because bullseye has a great package deal going on right now for $659 for a 2g. I may just go 50 trim all the way who knows. Looking forward to seeing the test results though. :thumb:

I would probably go with the E3 16g out of those two. Although you're FWD so to me that sounds like a lot of tire spinage with the quick spool.

I'll also be patiently waiting the turbo testing results since I'm kinda stuck between a e3 16g, a 20g, or the sbr g50.

How's the testing going? Anxiously waiting for results :sneaky:

Yeah whats going on with this testing?

I'm anxiously awaiting results!

Update!

We had Nate's car on the dyno about a week ago, and at about 750 AWHP he bent a few PAR rods in his long rod 2.1l. We have since put a set of Manley rods, and freshened up the motor. It is back in the car today and we will start posting results and dyno graphs on Monday. V trim Bullseye will be first up to bat!

Sorry for the wait, but we will get through at least 4-5 turbos next week.

I think you should throw a tdo6/20g with a td06h exhaust wheel in there as to see where it settles in comparison to the bolt-on garrets... Thanks for taking the time to put this test together! The results will be great for the archives!!

Will defently been looking forward to seeing those dyno results :thumb: Maybe you want to add one of your GT series turbos (11 or 12) as well to compare to those new pte bb units that sell for a couple hundred less, so we can se what were getting for the extra $.

As far as the turbo I know someone that has had both the evoIII and the to4b. He said the t04b pulls harder then the evo at the same boost but it is pretty laggy considering its not all that big. Think he's seeing 18 or 20 psi in the high 3000-4000 rpms. With the evo you should be seeing that boost around 3300-3400 rpms. I personally have the evoIII and for the physical size its a huge upgrade over the t25, I would defently recommend this turbo even for a fwd, which Iam. Its a great street turbo and with the proper supporting mods you can get some pretty big numbers out of it. With all the bolt on supporting mods @ 18 psi I can pull on the 2000+ vettes, I will be upgrading my cams & turning the boost up to 20 this spring to get the most out of this turbo. If your like most other people you will get used to the power andd want more. If your looking for something that still great on pump but pulls like crazy on the highway you might want to skip these turbos all toether & go straight to a 50 trim. Personally I thought the evoIII would be plenty big enought for me when I bought it but will more then likely be upgrading it in the future. As far as traction with the evo goes, you will want some good suspension, urthane motor mounts and most importantly good tires, if you have the cash a proper LSD will work wonder for traction. @ 18 psi anytime you punch it in 1st or 2nd you get wheel spin on spool up but if you learn how to drive you can still get pretty good lanches without much wheel spin.
