So anyway after getting my engine problems sorted out. (Lots of money there) my car decides to act up. Now I'm at the edge of the cliff with this car already. It had just drove 600 trouble free miles. So I wasn't sure what to think.
Anyway here I am on army trail in west chicago. I hit 15psi or so (it always drops off) and then, nothing. I try and get it to boost, but only 2psi will show. So I limp it home at 35mph. It almost dies at every stop sign and stop light. Vac is at 10 or 5 most of the time at idle. Having a hard time getting it home. At this point I decide to take it to the only place I trust AMS (even though I'm sure there sick of me, but not making money off me
). The only bad thing is. The car would only go about 45max anymore and it would run like total crap. So I decide to go at around 11pm at night. It takes about 1hour and a half or a little less. I almost also get ran over by a semi backing up(that would have been fun)So I get it there, the whole time watching the logger for any problems. The next day I call AMS and there not to happy with me dropping it off without telling them.(which makes since). I wasn't thinking at the time and just acted. I mean it's my dd and I really had no other way to get it there, and I wasn't going during rush hour or lunch time, that would have been hell. Anyway AMS calls and says they found the problem. I have a few guess, but they say it's the EVO gt. Now the turbo only has 2500 miles with oil changed on it about 4 times in that period. So i ask whats wrong with it. They say it seizes and then spins again. Which does make since. You see sometimes when I would go out, the first time I boosted it would like stall and nothing then it would boost, but not very strong and would drop off. I'm hoping the new evo mitsu one holds strong to redline. So anyway I will get pics up of the damage when I get the turbo back.
But I want to be sure, would a bad turbo effect low throttle,idle,top end (like it's running out of steam?),and like it's only running on two cylinders?
And my final advice GO 50-100 MORE FOR THE REAL THING. don't even chance it with the evo gt knock off,because I'm proof of them failing at 2500 miles with ok oil pressure.
And yes the evo mitsu one is ported and a 34mm waste gate flapper is installed so creep won't be a issue for quite a while.
And yes people think I'm crazy for sinking 10000 in the car and it still runs 14's, which does suck, but that money I spent on my second turbo was my exhaust money. Maybe some day the injectors,FMIC,dsm link or safc,wide band,and others will be added, but for now I can't spend anymore.
And yes I did do the fast+expensive,but it hasn't =reliable yet........still waiting............
