General OEM EPROM chip

My talon came with an eprom ecu socketed. The only problem is that the stock oem chip is missing. I dont have the funds for ecmlink just yet. So my question is can I buy a non eprom ecu just to get me up and running?

It would be a lot cheaper to buy just the EPROM with the stock code for your setup. I believe there are multiple members here that could provide you with that service, just browse the classified and you should be able to find a freelancer that would help you to sort this out. This unless you already own an EPROM programmer or know somebody that does, then you just need to download a stock eprom file (E931) and burn a 27c256 EPROM with it.

Thanks for info. Im going to send my ecu I have now (socketed eprom) to ecmlink when I buy link. I need either a stock oem chip or non eprom ( cause they are cheap) to get my car running. In the long run I will be running ecmlink so dont matter what chip I have. My question is will a non eprom ecu work for now? Having trouble finding an oem chip.

Yes, a non-eprom and an eprom ECU are functionally the same. Just get an ECU with the same part number. Assuming your car is a Federal M/T 6 bolt you need MD166262, if it is a 7 bolt you need MD193299.

There has to be someone in Texas who has a non-eprom ecu or a stock chip. Have you posted on the local boards? Craigslist?

I did find a non eprom ecu on dsmaprtout for 50 bucks. I also contacted ecmlink to see if they would lend or sale me a stock oem eprom chip. They would sell me one for 15 bucks and like 14 bucks to ship it. Looks like that may be my cheapest route. I think I may buy the non eprom just to have so when I send my eprom ecu to ecmlink I will not be without my car. Thanks for all the info.
