What does a perfectly tuned cars log look like

Ok i have been a member of this site for a few years and have learned a ton of things. One thing i have to say is trying to understand the ECU in are cars and what a good tunned cars log should look like seems to be lacking. I know the basics such as when the timing goes under 18 degrees that it is knocking and so forth but have never really been give a good explanation on what the ecu is doing or what as a "tunner" should look for when tunning the car given EGT, O2, timing and no knock readings. Also is there a way to tell if there is knock besides reading th timing curve since I drive a 2g. Last when looking at a log how does a tunner that consideres themselves knowleagable go about tunning a car. Where do they start, what do they look for, what kind of adjustments do they make, how much of a adjustment do they make. Thanks for everyones time, Jason

No problem. If you have any other questions, let me know. Your questions would have involved a lot of typing so I thought a link would be easier.....I'm lazy

Might want to read through our Tech Guide too - very similar articles in there:

Being a member of this site for years, I would think you would have read through there already before you posted a question like this?

I have read the tech articles several times and sadly to say they seem very vague and do not explain exactly what i want to see as far as what everyone looks for when tunning are cars. wit ha 2g don't go under this but there is no exact numbers i know there are some variables that wont make it exact and so many diffrent setups but it just doesn't seem like no one has made a tech article that can really explain how to get everything out of the car and what as a newbie or someone who has driven a dsm for quite some time can go O ok i see look for this, this and this. Or how it feels when it pulls does it nose down what kind of sounds should it make even what should the plugs look like. I have raced karts for several years and understand how much a slightly untuned engine can go from a second off on the track to being front row. I just feel that the tech articles for tunning are not all up to par. Maybe i am wrong but thats how i feel about them. Thanks, Jason
