14b turbo

I just installed a 14b turbo in my 96 talon AWD.

When I had the T-25 my EGT readings by the end of 3rd gear were around the 1250-1300F.
Now with the 14b, by the end of 3rd gear I'm reading 1600F, I have to let go of the throtle and call it off.

Anyone know why this is happening???

I'm still running the stock injectors with the same fuel pump as I was using with the T-25 (walbro 255)

It's happening becasue the 14b has more power in the upper rpms than the T-25 causing you to run leaner.

You will have to increase fuel in the upper rpms (via a fuel computer) or lower the boost.

I guess I'm looking at an AFC to had more fuel????

Yes you can add a little bit but not much w/o upgrading the injectors.

hmmmm.... i'm running a 14B at 15psi. my EGT's never go that high. my only fuel system mod is a re-wire on the stock pump.

I'm running 16.5psi do you think that could make a difference???

I'm going to lower my boost and see what happens.

First off, you have a MAS, the MAS is perfectly capable of compensating for the size difference between a 14B and T25. No AFC should be needed. Secondly, EGT gauges are stupid. My friend and I tested about 10 probes in boiling water and found that none of them were right and they were all off by different percentages. Most gauges are off by 3% as it is, we found that eight of ten probes was off by at least 5%. Totally usesless. 8% at 1500 degrees is 120 degrees. Also their abilities to accurately sense temperature decay over time. Pretty crappy.

You need to measure knock.
