I just want to see what Intercoolers you guys are running down here and what experiences you have had with them in respects to smog inspections to law enforcement encounters.

If you got some pics - put them up.

My purpose for this poll/ thread is to see what you guys are running and how you are able to pull off running some of the larger ones. For example: I have a greddy 24v that I painted flat black to include all my i/c pipes for a more sleeper look.

sbr fmic for both 1gen and 2gens , looks great and good power adder if you want some pics let me know ill post them

Did you guys have your front mounts on during a smog inspection? Was there anything you did to disguise it? Some people look for these things and some don't. I just want to see what your experiences were like.

Thanks for the replys.

no problems with mine, ebay fmic custom piping

I guess you Vegas guys are lucky. I know in San Diego it got really bad when it came to aftermarket parts and smogging. I mean, cops would set up a " roll on dyno-smog tester" and in groups find cars that meet their criteria for a modified car, have them pull onto this trailer and run a emissions and visual test. If the car failed, it was impounded and the owner was fined. I live in orange county now and it doesn't seem as bad as I would expect. It just seems to be almost impossible to modify your car and have it pass smog. But, then again San Diego does have a problem with street racing and some of the cars can get to be pretty ghetto down there. You'll see a bunch of cars that are coming up from mexico that have a nasty looking body kid with a 40y/o driver just totally ricing it out.

I'm just hope that this all just cools down and we don't have to walk on eggs shells.

paranoid? why? their kits are supposed to be perfect fit and can me made for any application. well almost

still on my stock smic. im saving up for a good fmic that will let me keep my fogs. anybody know of any good ones?? i think sbr has a kit, am i right??

<Greddy 24 front mount. Very pleased (you can keep the stock foglights, but I don't really care about that) It looks awesome and you can pretty much intimidate any other spo-com on the street with a DSM with a front-mount :thumb:

i got the slowboy Street kit, and it took them two months to ship it to me, and when i got it, some of the piping was to short, and i have to weld more piping on, the bead it again. also the way the core is, its a pain to get the couplers on without scratching your hand up really bad. i Highly recommend something other than the SBR kit.:notgood:

If you want an intercooler with a c.a.r.b. sticker get, the Greddy 18r. I am pretty sure it allows you to keep your fog lights. I know the 24V you may have to remove them. But, don't quote me on that.

i heard greddy's intercoolers arent all that great from searching on this forum. i was thinking about punishment racing's budget intercooler or the ETS intercooler. both will let me keep my fogs as well, but ill just have to save up $$ either way. but then again, the CARB# could save me from a few headaches. when i have the money ill see whatsup.

I have the 24v and I have had no problems with it except with the silicone couplers that come with it. The one I got does not come with the carb sticker but, no problems yet.

Another thing on the fog lights, I never had any plus, I have the 2gb front bumper(for the mean time).

Oh yeah, for the 1g guys- You may as well just get whatever you feel like. As far as I know there is no intercooler that comes with a carb sticker for you guys. I would either get a large SMIC or what ever front mount you feel like.

no fitment issues or heat soaking with the greddy 24v??? those were the only complaints i read about on here.

dont get the 1G street FMIC kit from SBR, i had major fitment issues, like i had to extend one of the pipes because it wasnt long enough... i would go with either an ebay kit, or something like punishment racing...

I've got the SSAC/E-Bay FMIC it is working pretty good so far but it took some creative rigging to make my RRE J-pipe from my 16G work.

I run a Full Function FMIC. I have never had heatsoak problems nor have I had overheating. Plus I know it's good.. I put down 444awhp on a mustang dyno and ran an 11.1 @ 127 and no heatsoak.
