what is the lowest "safe" oil pressure to have with 7bolt engine?

with hot oil my oil pressure will drop to something like 10-15 psi at idle and low speed driving. I have a crappy FAZE electronic oil pressure gauge and it is hard to tell exactly how low the pressure goes as the lowest reading is 25 psi and the needle drops somewhere between 0 and 25 psi. at higher rmp`s I see like 75-100 psi pressure. I am a little concerned about the idle oil pressure as I don't know what is the minimum pressure allowed and I have just done a 7bolt rebuild...

10-15 PSI is normal at idle once the motor is good and hot.

All you ever need is 1 molecule of oil, anything less is a problem. :)

I've know people who swore by 10W claiming it offered less friction and could disperse and lube better than 30W or 40W. You can't imagine how I felt looking at the oil pressure pegged a 0 while sitting at a traffic light.

kr.k: is that where you live?? How hard is it to get parts?

Cheers,

yep, Estonia - small country near Finland.

It can be real hard to get parts and they cost $$$. Some parts of DSM-s match Mitsubishi Galant and they can be had for less but in general stuff costs 200% more here. (And we get 1000% less paid:| )

he thinks that he is the only one that has seen the dreaded no oil pressure deamons. 3 ####in engines later i get a oil pressure gause and stop looking at the factory one...
