Hello every one,
Intro:
I started to build a 96 GST with the newbie mentality. I wanted +800 HP and run high 8's as a daily driver. I see my post in 08 and I am ashamed. I still want to meet the +800 HP but I know I can't DD the car. I removed the A/C and summers are hot. I have to wear a tie (work) and I can't show up to a meeting all sweaty. :notgood:The windows get foggy and I can't see. The list of cons goes on... So, I decided to purchase another eclipse as a DD. I started to look around for a couple of months. I came close to buying a couple of cars but deals fail through. I found a 98 5 Speed GSX at a higher price for a Shell. I admit I paid too much for the cars. The car is in great shape and clean history. It has black dash is a plus for me. It does have a lot of miles on the car 180K. It came with Tein SS coil overs, HKS 272/272, and a 95 EPROM ECU. The seller used his AAA to have the car towed to my house.(75 miles one way trip) Over all I'm happy about my purchase.:D

Goal for the car:
I want to be able to DD the car comfortably and retain the A/C system. I will re-upholstery the interior with black leather.(EVO MR Recaro front seats) I want to repaint the car white again. I would like to have a nice looking car and reliable. I want 450HP to 500HP on E85 from a 2.3L 6bolt motor with 2G head. (350HP is more realistic) I plan to use ECMLINK V3 Full with SD.

Northstar White. My only weakness.. Sounds like a good build, man.

A 2.3 stroker on e85, you will find that 350whp will probably be easier than you think. cams, smim, and i'm not sure what turbo is on that , bolt on , but has a nice large downfiring compressor cover with what appears to be 4" inlet. probably something pretty nasty. However i dont see an AFPR which probably means he is on a stock fuel pump or a 190, seeing as its highly recommended to get an afpr with a 255+ as it may sometimes overrun your stock fpr.

I really like the car! goodluck!

PS, turbo kind of looks like some sort of holset w/ a bolt on housing. And is internally gated.

It became my weakness too. It was more of an impulse buy. I made the purchase with picture only.(Deal was made over the phone/picture but Cash transferred when I physically inspected the car and made sure it was clean.) When I see the car in person; The color said by me and take me home. Thanks for the kind words.:thumb:

Very good looking GSX man! Good luck with the build!
Your keeping me motivated!:thumb:Thanks

Looks awesome man! What turbo are you planning on running? What turbo is currently on it? What kind of fmic and intake mani are on it?
Thanks,:D For the turbo I don't really know yet. The car originally had a HX35 w/BEP .55 A/R Bolt on with VRSF Intercooler kit.(I didn't purchase it) The car was purchased as a shell. No engine and transmission. I did buy some parts but not all. I will be using ETS 10.5" Race Intercooler Kit 4"Core anodized black with a EVO3 manifold.

It had a Holset HX35 w/bolt on. The car currently has 255 in the tank. I will get a FPR eventually. The car was purchased as a shell and I want it that way. It gives me a fresh start to build it the way I want it. I know what's in the car and where it came from. Thanks:thumb:

I'm currently working on shaving the engine bay/ wire tuck. I'm thinking of painting the engine bay black.:hmm: If any one wondering what I'm working on. Trying to follow the Build Journal rules.(No several small updates spread across several small posts in the thread.)

I want lower the temperature under the hood. I had the manifold and other hot parts ceramic coated. I sent all parts to TCC and the part look good. The downpipe did not get ceramic coated because it would cost more than the cost of the downpipe. I will wrap the downpipe to help lower the temperature.

The intercooler pipes are powder coated glossy black and the FP intake was a -10A/N fitting welded. The pipes where completed but I am still waiting for caliper/valve cover finished. I order injector from import evolution group buy. The injector should be delivered today. I haven’t been able to work on the car due to work load being high. I am currently trying to same money for a air compressor. I want a Quincy 5hp 2 stage 60 gallon 230 volt but with a price tag of $1,399.99 it might take a while. I might cheap out and buy a IR 5hp single stage for $900. I wont use it often but am concerned about the quality of the IR.

Wow, and I thought I had a lot of fuel with 3250cc/cylinder and 4 fuel pumps!

Are you still only running an HX-40? Are you running methanol? Are you intending on going to a mechanical fuel pump or cable fuel pump setup?

Just asking as I looked through the last 25 posts or so and only saw the Walbro 255 intank and HX-40 setup.

wow that's a nice car, loving the 2G's more and more! Keep the updates coming.
Thanks, Ill try to update weekly.

Looks like a nice build.
Thank you for noticing. I'm putting a lot of time and money into this project. I research a lot and it's slowing the progress. It should be a solid car when I am done.

Great looking car man, i also bought a white 2g without any inspection LOL.

Northstar white is just too sexy to not buy.

Will be following your log, good luck!
I put a down payment just looking at picture. I feel in love with it in person.

The car was making 350whp on stock rebuilt 2.0l before it was parted out.. I know the ex owner. Clean car, Nice build!.
I bought the car from Medrivfast. He is a very nice guy. Communicated well and worked with me. I had to fly to Texas to work and he held the car until I returned. He let me use there AAA and tow the car to my house.(75 miles) His wife is funny.

Looks great, you can never go wrong with a white 2gb
Very true

two full sets of 2150s?!?!
Yes, I am building two cars.

I will use the HX40 but am thinking of switching to FP green. IF the HX40 is too lagy on the street it will be replaced with a FP Green. E85 for fuel and Single rewired wally or Bosch 044

dam 8x2150 thats alot of fuel for a twin turbo big block....
I have a LS1 camaro I will turbo or supercharge later. I might use this if there compatible.

awesome looking build. love the hx40 makes my 16g look like a t25 LOL
Size matter LOL

He bought the shell from me. I'm just glad it went to a good home. Last time I drove the GSX was coming home from MOD. I do miss her. It had an HX35 8 Blade pushing 20lbs. According to DSM Link I was flowing 47lbs/min on pump gas. I did replace her with an 01 Corvette Z06.

I will take good care of the car.:thumb: It's in good hands.

Looks like a nice build. Why did you decide to get a 2.0 6 bolt block machined for the bigger crank instead of using a G4CS block?

Thanks, Like most people with a 2.3L; I already had a 2.0L block just needed the 100mm crank. I am looking for a 2.4L for my other car but I'm having difficulty finding one.
