Last night I managed to bang the gears fast enough to slam my Talon into the 11's with a 14B turbo, stock sidemount IC, stock 450 injectors, and stock IC piping! This is a continuation of a thread I started last June titled 'So Close!' http://dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=232147

I had a feeling there was still room for improvement from last time since I had severe misfires during my last trip. The plugs were shot from running leaded gas too long. During testing the fresh plugs had a much stronger pull, especially on the top end, so I was optimistic.
I also lubed the shift cables and adjusted them to help me get through the gears more quickly and cleanly. Then I took out another 5 psi from the tires and upped the boost to 22 psi.
I originally planned to meet up with some friends at Infineon, but they were closed, even though the schedule on their website said they were open. So I decided to go to Sacramento Raceway. It's only two hours farther away in 105 degree heat with no AC.
The first run was a 12.5@110 using only 100 octane, I missed 3rd gear, intake air temps were up in the 140's. The tank was nearly empty, so I stopped off at the gas trailer and got 3.5 gallons of Sunoco 116, leaned out the SAFC by 5%, removed the headlight, and checked the logs.
The second run was 12.292@ 113.611mph. A nice improvement, but there was a big jump in knock starting at 6k in 4th gear. I noticed there was a little blip of knock that started around 6K in all gears. It also did this on one of my runs at Infineon, too. I also noticed that the injectors were at 98-99% duty cycle at this point, so I retuned the SAFC a little to get around it, and hoped for the best.
I honestly didn't think I'd be able to drive the car into the 11's that day. The heat was severe, I was fatigued from a long drive in a race car with stiff suspension, no AC and a booming exhaust, and things were generally not going my way all day. Not until the last run anyway.
For my 3rd run I put a 12.1 dial-in on my windshield. Airtemps were cooling off at 85 degrees. I raised the stutterbox to 6k rpm. Track prep was spotty as usual for Wednesday Fun Drags. I could see bare concrete where everyone launched and wore away the VHT. So I did something different. Instead of lining up in the center of the lane like everybody else, I lined up a couple feet off center so my tires were rolling in the sticky VHT. I guess it worked, because I was able to hook up on a 6k stutter launch. Then I nailed the 1>2 shift quick enough to turn on the windsheild wipers, jammed the 2>3 shift hard enough to turn them on again, then flicked into 4th at 6400rpm. I crossed the line at 6500 rpm in 4th gear and watched for the signal light to see who won. The light came on in the other lane. Figures.
The lady at the booth hands me the yellow loosers copy, the slip reads 11.980 @ 114.926mph ! I broke out!
