I just purchased some new oem replacement brembo rotors for my front. They're niether slotted nor drilled. Just plain.
Problem is the rust build up. It just a thin film that wipes away when I wahs the car but its back in a day or so.

Is there anything I can do to prevent this buildup? A dude at napa recomended I just clear coat them. Obvioulsy theres no need to cot the braking surface, but the center and the vents maybe?

what do you think?

Don't clear coat them. Do you understand how brakes work??? They get hot. Clear coat paint would not work at all and would be a definite safety hazard. Just use them. They will stay nice and shiney (at least the firepath). Visit this site for some additional info.

EDIT: The only thing I've done is use high temperature paint (1000+) for coat the non-fire path portion of the disc. It will keep it from rusting for a while, but after a bunch of heat cycles, even that will start to rust.

Get this stuff called Evapo-Rust I get it here at canadian tire. If you put rusty bolts in it over night etc they look like you just pulled them out of a package. Everything I have been putting on my car that was once rusty and cleaned with this stuff the company guarantees will not rust again. So far I beleive it as well anything I have dipped in the stuff doesn't rust I did a test with a raw piece of sheet metal we all know will rust if you look at it. I put some evapo rust on one side the other nothing left it out in the rain sure enough the coated side did not rust. Its some kina of liquid it doesn't leave a film and its clear and looks like it was never there. I have no idea whats in it but the stuff works on a molecular level to seal the parts I can tell ya that. :thumb:

if you try driving your car once in a while it wont rust. mine doesnt.

on the other hand, try zinc coating.
