i'm a newbie, so sorry if this sounds dumb. i just learned that you can have a direct port nitrous system with an N-tercooler. but can you have 2 N-tercoolers on one aftermarket front-mount intercooler? i was thinking, have one on the front, like everyone does, and then sneek one on the opposite side of the intercooler. is it possible and/or reasonable?

there is no point when you are moving forward the one on the opposite side will do nothing but maby help the radiator
in the end it would not make its money worth

It is possible but not reasonable. Like igopoopy said, the one behind the IC wouldn't do much of anything except for waste nitrous. If you want more power, then you should use a full wet kit instead of an intercooler sprayer. If you are worried about cooling, dont worry. One intercooler sprayer on a FMIC will cool your air charge well enough.

could you have a full wet kit in addtion to the N-ter cooler? or how about a dry system with the N-ter cooler?

also, like turboTSi1320 made a thread called "lets make an intercooler sprayer..." does an N-ter cooler replace water sprayers like on the new evo 8's and STI's? or, say you had a new evo8, could you just add on the N-ter cooler and still have the water sprayer? thanks for all the advice.

Nobody makes a dry kit for the 4G63. It is too unsafe to rely on the injectors to supply more fuel, therefore fuel is sprayed with the nitrous. A 50-shot of nitrous results in 100hp gain. 50HP from the nitrous and 50HP from the cooling affect. Because of this, a N-tercooler would not be nessacery. Again, it would be possible, but not reasonable.

If you had an EVO8 and wanted to install an N-tercooler, you would not continue to use the OEM water sprayer. Think about it, if you had a 2G with a t25 turbo and you buy a 20G, of course you take the small one off and install the better turbo. You wouldnt use them both. With an N-tercooler kit, there will be no need for a water sprayer.

Wrong, there are dry kits for our cars, but like you said they arent safe.

Wrong again. I see it a good idea to use both because are you gonna lean back and turn on your nitrous bottle every time you want to cool the intercooler down and spray the expensive nitrous? Nope. Why not use the NX cooler at the track and the water whenever else you are drving on the street, etc.

Co2 is your friend BTW, no nitrous for wasting...

Heres what you do, drive your car, stop, get out, pierce a few of those little Co2 paintball canisters (carefully), soak intercooler w/ -75 degree Co2 (same effect as nitrous), go back in car, floor it, then realize you want to spend $400+ for this almost unnoticible performance "gain".

The Ntercooler uses nitrous at a rate of a 300hp shot of nitrous since it has no jet to slow down the feed. Two of them woudl drain a nitrous bottle pretty fast.

If your spraying nitrous inside the motor there is no need for an intercooler sprayer at all be it CO2 or Nitrous or whatever. THe only reason you spray on the cooler is if you cant spray inside the engine, thats it. If you can spray the motor thats all the cooling you will ever need.

If you have ever seen an ntercooler in action you will see how much it uses and how effective it is at cooling the intercooler. There would be no need for one on the front and the back. WHen I come back from a run, and I turn the ntercooler on just a bit in the beginning for 1st gear only type of thing, the intercooler has ice hanging off it because its soo cold.

No offense, but I'd like to see you do that at the track. If you do it in the lanes, it will heat back up by the time you even stage. Not affective.

Like everyone else said, one is plenty. I got one on my car and it works fine. Of course I get some juice in the intake, I can notice a difference. I got my kit with a 10lb bottle for 350 shipped. Worst case is I'll convert it to a wet kit later.

OK, I work at a wholesale perofrmance warehouse and we stock NOS, NX, and ZEX. Neither of them make dry kits for our cars. But you say they exist, so, who makes them??

Those water kits are more of a toy than anything. Think about it. Water is going to warm up while sitting in your car. Do you think straying warm water on a FMIC is going to create HP?? It you want to cool the intercooler then the NX kit is the way to go. If you are worried about the cost of nitrous, then spend $4 to fill it with Co2.

CO2 is an oxygen suppressant (sp?) Which means it gets rid of O2. Sure this will cool your IC, but hopefully it doesn't get in the intake or it will hurt your performance.

I know guys too that run water sprayers too, they put ice cubes in the resevoir to make it cold, etc. They will spray a fine mist on the IC, but nothing as cold as a compressed gas like N2O or CO2.

You are right. If it found it way to the intake filter, it would have negative results. But if you were to use a shield like in the picture below, it would be almost impossible to get Co2 into the intake when moving 15+ MPH.

I was kidding, of course your not gonna get out and do that,,

I know they do a bit since I messed around w/ a homemade CO2 sprayer for a while.
However, by the way the original poster was asking his question it sounded like he believed 2 ntercooler kits on a mostly stock car will do something. An ntercooler kit on a stock intercooler isn't worth the money that could be spent w/ real power adders. I took it for granted by saying he was new and his question wording that his car is mostly stock and he believes an ntercooler kit has the same effect as a nitrous shot. I was merely trying to tell him that it just freezes your intercooler w/ gas, nothing more. CO2 is CO2 , no matter the source.

Take SS braided line, 5lb CO2 bottle, nitrous solenoid and metal/pvc spray bar and you got the same thing.

Actulty your wrong. One of my good friends dad, own a performace shop here in fort wayne, and do alot of procharger installs on just about anything. They installed a procharger on a civic along with a front mount, dyno'd it and came up with 140 whp. They then sprayed the N-tercooler and got right at 191 whp. A 50hp gain is deffinatly noticable, I don't know what the hell your thinking.

His car isnt that we know of. I will still say that a 350 dollar blast of CO2 is not a needed early mod for a DSM.

I was answering the question on how it relates to the original poster, not Co2's overall performance abilities on a grand scale.

actually, my car is stock. cuttheduck was right in assuming that i had a stock car, but i am not obviously looking to just throw on an N-ter cooler to a basically stock car. i may be a newbie, but not a stupid newbie. i was just wondering for the long-term scale (like, in the next 3-5 years ). i would never expect to put on some form of nitrous or have a huge, expensive turbo and go around thinking i'm the sh#t, without realizing that there will be some SERIOUS engine consequences if other parts of my car are not up to par.

one question that was not answered- is a wet nitrous system applicable with an N-ter cooler steup? would that be doable or reasonable?
