What Turbo is this? [Merged] Turbo ID Identification

Knockoff eBay EvoIII 16G, without a doubt.

On a scale of 1-10, 1 being the worst, the Chinese EvoIII's reliability ranks somewhere in the negative 750 range....although it can be made better using some genuine parts.

One of my customers got a whopping 89 miles out of his.

That header looks like it came from ebay too. Almost deffinitely a knock off brand. The rust and "XO2" stamp basically gives it away. I wouldn't mind using it on my car, due to the fact that it's a tubular header. It could possibly be leaking tho, so beware.

is there anyway to know if a turbo is good before i put it on my car? all I can check is the shaft play, I don't know what else to check, and if the turbo does give out on me, what will the symptoms be? Just no boost?

And with the tubular headers, same thing, how do i check for leaks before putting it on my car, visually inspecting it I can't see anything, but I don't know. If you guys got any pointers, let me know.

Thanks

Your turbo might sound like this ROFL

As for the header, just visually inspect it. Those ebay ones do crack often, so be prepared.

LOL, alright, note taken on blown turbo LOL.

I will keep my stock header and if/when it breaks, I will have my stock back up to reinstall. Or I could just keep my stock headers and not worry about it breaking, what kind of performance can I get? Does it just decrease spool up time? Or is there more than that to it? Let me know, thanks for being helpful.

great now I don't know if I want low end or high end power, sigh..

weighing the pros and cons, and considering I daily drive, I rather have low end off the line spool up and not have to worry about breaking my headers. Thanks for the links, I am tired and just trying to get info quickly. I think I am done for the night, peace guys.

A close friend of mine bought a Pacesetter header brand new from Summit a few summers ago for his 2G TSi. It literally lasted 5 months before the #4 runner completely broke away from the collector. They're JUNK. We contacted Pacesetter about warranty and they claimed that since we wrapped the header, the wrapping caused the crack. Yeah right. Nice way to cop out of a warranty claim.

As a replacement, I had an XSPower/DNP Knockoff at my shop that we had to put on so he could drive his car. The XSPower header is thicker and much stronger than the Pacesetter, but the underhood temps are still excessive enough to burn the hood insulation around the header area. If anything, the car is a bit more laggy with the tubular header versus a ported stocker or an EvoIII.

We now have an brand-new extensively ported EvoIII manifold ready to go on the car for this winter's build.

IT IS HEADER! NOT HEADERS... There is only one. Sorry, I cant stand that though...

The Header says X02 Racing on it. That is some CTC (China Town Shit). They sell on ebay. It is the same as any other like it (SSAC, no name ebay). The manufacture just changes the tags for what ever wholesalers is buying them. You stock manifold will work just fine, keep using it.
Since everything is free I want to say go on and bolt it on but then there was that thing you said about reliable driving everyday...
A better bet would be to buy a EVO 3 B16G or some other bolt on turbo (SCM series, bullseye, agp, etc... SCM6152) and use it.
The FMIC will prob work great and give you no problems.

I'm going to a junkyard tomorrow to pick up a turbo off of a 1G talon. My friend said it was stock but another guy i go to school with said it was a 16g. It says TDO5H on the compressor housing. How can i tell for sure which one it is?

i've searched for the last 20 minutes and couldn't find anything. what should i search for?

a guy wants to sell me this turbo
can anyone identify this turbo to me
he only mentioned the compressor fin size is 60mm
and the turbine wheel size is 55mm

this is the picture

Need help identifying a turbo? Check this thread. There are dozens of turbo photos and explanations of identifying characteristics. If you don't see what you need, feel free to ask your question in this thread.

my buddies got this turbo, no name on it at all. it has these casting numbers on it though

371723b
1.32DUC
(h)3
183F

those are the numbers on this turbo. the previous owner bought it to put on his mustang.

This thread is completely worthless without pics. How do you expect someone to identify your turbo for you if they can't see it? Do you think people have turbocharger part numbers randomly memorized LOL? With an exhaust a/r that huge it's obvious the turbo is dieseled out haha.

I have a 96 Talon TSI AWD (automatic trans). I was told the car is pretty much stock. I am posting a picture of the turbo, is this the stock turbo? If so what turbo is this and what do the numbers mean? Thanks for any help.:)
