Wow, incredible photography! You could tell that corner was bad news from the first picture.\

P.S. Was that RRE's Caterham 7 with the 4g63?

Ok I'll answer in order.

No, no cooling problems :p

Open track day with T.E.A.M. Racing. Next day is Feb. 26. Registration is open on Bonni's site for this event at www.team-racing.org . You should come up. All you need is an appropriate helmet and a clear tech sheet. Instructors are available for those who are new to open track days.

That was a locals 7. I wasn't aware that RRE had a 4g63 powered 7. I'll have to talk to Honda about that.

As far as the off:

My first hot lap of the morning and a C5 vette wanted me to pass between turn 9 and 10. Since the new tuning I've been working on I have a lot more torgue down low. I get on the gas to pass and the wheels break free. Off the gas to regain traction, back on the gas and complete the pass. Since the pass was late I've shortened my braking zone and am concerned about locking up the wheels. I enter 10 with too much speed for the conditions (obviously). Rear end comes around with no tire noise that I heard. Thought I had caught it, so did the photographer which is why there is a gap in the action sequence as he stopped snapping. Car slows enough and since the wheels are still turned i shoot off the outside. WHEEEEEEE! I can say that the K wall starts looking mighty big the closer you get to it.

I was at RRE picking up some parts when I heard them fire up the Caterham. They drove it out into the culdesac and proceded to do several large donuts, turbo and BOV both quite loud, then drove it up into their trailer and off to the track. :thumb:

That's great. last time I went to thunderhill it was 1/2 of the trck for drifting and 1/2 for HPDE. The drifting was cool, but I ended up watching the road racing more. I'm doing my firs auto x in march. It's only 35 buck though. I was planning on a HPDE this year but I got another baby on the way so that aint hapening. Can't afford $ 225 for a day of euforia.great way to represent out there, great shots too.

The 3800 GTP (supercharged) is a direct bolt in swap, But HEAVY and the super charger is tiny. Along with the Caddy Northstar V8. 4g63 is a lot smaller and lighter. I don't know anything about the grand nationals/GNX nor have I even seen that car/engine.

Parts for the 4g63 are probably cheaper and more availible, plus it comes with a transverse tranny.

The other engine idea we were toying with a having 2 GSX-R 1000 engines (turbo'd) one in the front one in the rear.

My (limited) understanding is that the 2.8-3.8 GM V-6 are the same engine family so fairly interchangeable. The Grand National engineis a turbo 3.8 V-6. Lots of potential for ludicrous speed, maybe even plaid:D

well the 2.8 3.1 and 3.4 are different from the 3300 and 3800, same basic engine but they are distinctly different. But I don't know if the buick GN engine is the 3800 platform or if it is its own platform. I thought the GN engine was part of that goofy 4.1 4.3 platform

The Buick uses a 90deg V6 and the Fiero 2.8 is a 60deg v6, so I suspect there would be some fitment issues.

It's funny about the Caterham/Seven because I always thought that would be an insane platform for the 4G63. Along with swapping one into a Mighty Max.
